I am working on my yamadoo and i have a few questions from the yamaha guys.

1. Where should I mount the battery, under the seat is not a option, either next to the chaincase, or in the nose of the sled. Looking for opinions on which way will balance the weight better.

2. Also how does a guy use a surge tank on the sled. Does it need a small low pressure pump in the main tank or can it be gravity fed to the surge tank? Also how big should the surge tank be? 1/2 gallon?

Here are some pics of what I am doing to give an idea.

Mount the battery as far back and as low as possible. The nose would be my last choice, weight is weight you need it spread around evenly for the best handling. IMO you don't need a surge tank, thats more for EFI sleds. The carb bowls pretty much act a as a tank.

Good to know about the surge tank. I was just concerned with running out of fuel going down hill or up hill for that matter But it makes sense that the float bowls will have fuel in them so if the pickup stops picking up fuel for a very short period of time it won't sputter on me.

I will probally go with the battery down next to the chaincase then. That is as low as it can get. And should evenly distrubute weight compared to the clutches on the other side.

I like to answer on both forums.. cuz I have more thoughts as I swap sites.

you could mount it down by the mag side of hte motor... would balance clutches well... also, for the tank, just run the dual pickup setup of an sdi with a single high pressure pump where the low pressure one was o nthe 1000's... they run until they are damn near empty.. it has a pickup in the back, and in the front corner of the tank.

haha, I have one of those as well. That is what I ran last year. I was not going to run a intanke pump this year though. But I just may again.
