yamaha #2 in sales

Just spoke to my Yami/Cat dealer and he said Yami is NOT #2.
Still did not change my mind when I snow checked a Attak GT today!
#1 Doo
#2 Pol
#3 Cat
#4 Yami

Other than blind loyalty what kept the Yamaha faithful coming back in the 90s and early 2000s other than the SRX?

Jim

Loyalty to my dealership.

Ya know, who really cares - 1,2,3,4 - I'm not going to stop riding them!
Agree. What I am interested in is finding out how much market share Yamaha was able to carve out last season, and at which manufacturer's expense. All I know is that I saw a lot more Yamaha 4 strokes this season than in prior seasons.

Left Polaris after 17 years

After 17 years on Polaris I picked up my 1st Yamaha (A 2006 Red Rs Rage)
:4STroke: :yam:

The other day a received a call from a researcher asking questions about how I would rate my New Yamaha :yam: and what I used to ride and then he asked a LOT of guestions about why I left Polaris. He didn't ask anything about the other 2 brands???....

I've not been able to find anything that showed numbers of units each OEM sold for the 2005-2006 season. I would not be surprised if Yamaha moved up, but I doubt they'd go up as high as #2. I bet they fall out with Doo #1, Cat #2, Yam #3 and Poo #4.

Poo has had way too many problems to keep market share. Their line-up for '07 is pathetic and I've read on other forums that Poo only snowchecked 250 sleds for '07. Their sales during the last quarter dropped off dramatically. Based on the unoffical things I've read, Poo is hurting and Yam is in a good spot. Reason I don't think Yam is #2 is that where I live, you still don't see any new Yamahas. Could be different in other parts of the U.S.

My dealer NELSONS SPEED SHOP in mi. Said once a sled is sold to a dealer, by a manufactrer. the industry considers that a sold sled.
So if you find a left over new 04 next to a 07 sled. the snowmobile
manufactrers will consider that a sold sled back in 04. He didn't know of anyone that keeps track of how many sleds are actually sold to the public for each modle year.
NELSONS has all 4 brands. He said over the last 2 years YAMAHAs have went up a lot in sales. The other 3 have went down, with POLARIS hurting the most...

I really cant beleive their is that many stupid people who buy doo, to make it number one, I just dont understand it.

You would figure people would wise up and make yamaha number one, as they are number one, and the facts are the facts.

OOHHH well no one is perfect, :die ski-doo
THAT IS A VERY POINTED AND UNEDUCATED STATEMENT. (THAT MANY STUPID PEOPLE).
IM USED TO READING MUCH MORE ALDULT LIKE REPLYS ON THIS WEB SITE.

I have to agree. Why bash?

I have a lot of respect for the Yamaha 4-strokes and If I could afford a second sled it would be a Yamaha. But Yamaha does not make a sled that is right for me it's that simple. You have to consider that not all of us do the same type of riding. If Yamaha ever finds a way to shoe horn that 3 cylinder into the phazer then you'll see me on a Yamaha.

But I'm glad Yamaha is 2nd in sales, they should be! They are putting out a wiked product that has raised the bar for the industry. and when they make a 120-140 HP Phazer (from factory) they may even take over the #1 spot because they'll win over Rev owners like me. ;)!

We'll accomplish allot more for the sport if we support our fellow riders, no matter what they ride. But the 4-stroke trend is allot like that Joke Robert DuVall told Sean Penn in Colors, "Walk down real slow like and..."

Here Nytro, Nytro......

I really don't care where Yamaha is in sales as long as there product is dependable, and if there is a problem they back it up.It might sound funny but even that idler wheel issue in 05-06 they knew they had issues but they would not replace wheels that had studded tracks, or warranty was up that's BS...I almost went to another brand but then you look into the other manufactures issues, MOTORS, clutches, electrical etc..All manufactures have there problems, the less problems the better, and the smaller problems the better...

I'm in NW MN not to far from the polaris and AC plants in 2003 I did not see one single Yamaha 4 stroke other than mine now there probably closer to 20% of the sleds I see up there. To move into the competitors home stomping grounds says people are catching on! another 2 years and I'm betting Yamaha will be #1 :yam:

My daughter and I found leftover 06 Rages and they were 2400.00 off because they were leftovers. I have to touch up some rust on the a-arms, suspensions, probably from sitting, but rest of sled looks fine. My son-in-law bought the 07 Attak. I have a Polaris dealer as my Polarises are still in the family, but they didn't have the same kind of incentives and the FST I saw was over 10,000.00 on the sticker. I like the torque and mannerisms of the four stroke and put over 100 miles on my daughter's Rage, before I bought mine. The track is a little loud, but I guess any sled with a 1 1/4 lug will make noise compared to my old sled with 1 inch lug. It doesn't matter to me if they are number 1 or not and that wasn't a consideration when I looked at Yamaha, I did because I have a pushy son-in-law j/k He is Yamaha all the way. plowking
