Hello all.
I pulled my apex out of storage and tried to start it. The battery was dead so I tried to jump it. When I turn the key nothing happens at all. No guages no click nothing. I looked at another forum last night and there were instructions on how to meter the ingnition and it all metered correctly. I checked the fuses by the battery there were 2 10 amps and one large one they all were good. I checked the other fuses on the side of the machine. I guess I didn't check them all but the ignition fuse was fine. I will look at the rest of them when I get home. I did move the relays around????
Thanks,
Jerry

I forgot to add that I installed a new battery that was fully charged.
Did you pull up the kill switch?

Yes and I did check the voltage on the battery when I turn the key it drops from 12.8 v to 11.8v and when I push in the kill voltage stays at 12.8v so I am assuming the kill swich is operating correctly is there a easy place to meter the kill switch?

Check the fuses beside the battery.

I did that there were 2 10 amp fuses and one bigger square one they all tested good.
You should fill in your location its a site requirement. Your starter solenoid may be the problem.

I think I remember having something like that happen. For me it was the starter relay located above the brake disc. The trick was to keep turning the key on and off for 10 to 20 times until the relay caught. Try it, maybe it might work. If it does you are gonna need to replace it.

I just looked for the starter relay I don't see one by the fuses I know there are 3 relays on the left foot rail I have tried moving those around buy still no luck. Sled dog you mentioned starter solenoid can you tell me where that is located?

A completely dead battery will give funny results. I just replaced a completely dead battery in my Tundra and the truck would do nothingness long as it was wired in no matter what we tried to jump it with. New battery and she fired right up. You know your battery is dead id throw a good one in and start there.

I bought a new battery and charged it. Still nothing, I hooked up the starter relay directly to the battery and the starter turned over, I checked the voltage on the main relay and there was 12 volts to ground when I plug in the relay it doesn't trip. Does anyone know should the - side of the plug be a direct short to ground? I am starting to think I may have a bad ground.

There are some threads on common ground issues both rub throughs and corrosion.

Ignition switch or load relay. disconnect ignition switch plug and on sled side jump the brown wire and the red with yellow tracer. That acts as key on. If nothing happens then it's not the key switch. There's a main fuse down by the battery also. The sled works on a closed system meaning there has to be continuity through the switches. Just like kill switch there has to be continuity through it to work. Our sleds work off of ground signals.
Some here are saying starter relay I say solenoid. I do believe yours is stuck or faulty. I am not sure on an Apex but on my RX it is at the top near the battery and the fuses are right beside it. Look for the heavy starter positive cable going from the solenoid to the starter. That will lead you to the starter solenoid / starter relay whatever you want to call it. I am betting yours is stuck try tapping it with screwdriver handle and if its sticking replace it. You don't need that failing out on the trail.
