Another no start/no power

what steiner is saying is that parts guys give you the one for a vector/rs sled. the battery cables for it is backwards to the rx/apex one. common issue. the jumping the both battery terminals will confirm that the starter condition is good.

You can use a set of jumper cables I you like. You can use just the red clamps of the cables and connect to the + of the battery and the lug on the starter or in your pic the black wire coming from the starter. A quicker way is just to test to starter is to jump the two terminals on the starter relay. you will get the same result either way. If the starter cranks when you jump it then you have a bad/wrong relay. No crank will indicate and blown starter. Which seems to be common for these machines.

Just take a pair of pliers and jump across the two big terminals. Just like shown in the picture.
The red drawn line would be the pliers.

happens. i need to buy a starter and solenoid for my 11 as 22000 mi and no issues yet. supposedly i need a stator as well.

Still feel like I didn’t do something right. Should I buy a new one or used? My sled is just under 18000km

my plan is to go new oe as i have had bad experiances with aftermarket starters on sleds and atv's. only had one aftermarket last so far and that one was only bought as it was 1/8 the price of the oe as it was $800.00 for oe.

I'd have to check with Travis on exactly when I replaced the starter in my 08 Apex to determine the mileage since but I bought one of @hibshman25 aftermarket starters and it has been flawless. I too was concerned with going aftermarket vs OEM but considering the cost and the point Travis made (with the Apex, it much easier to replace the starter than say the newer Nytro's) is why I opted to go with one of his. Now when it came to the stator, that was replaced new with OEM.

Thanks guys @maim @steiner @RobX-1 appreciate it! Let me know what I should do and I’ll order one asap. Also if someone has a video on how to remove it that be great! :)

go with @hibshman25 starter as it is sounding like others have had good luck with them. you need to pull the battery tray like when replacing the oil filter to get at the starter on an apex.

Just pull the two bolts and bang er out? I thought I’d have to take the oil can off…sheesh I hope not. Just filled it with oil then magically I have no power. Now we’re here

have not had to replace one yet (knock on wood) on an apex but no where near as bad as a phazer or rs sled.

Yup it’s that easy. Two bolts and bang her out with a mallet.

So I can’t fix this thing? Replace some parts or something inside?
