Yamaha Canada now part of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A.

Dam globalists, It is the start of the new world yamaha order that will come about when the 12th planet comes back to cause another flood and we will all have to buy waverunners to survive.

Read: Yamaha is cutting jobs here in Norrth America, by cutting the overlap in management between Canada and the U.S.

I hope this doesn't adversely effect Chris Ried at all, he's a heckuva nice guy and straight shooter. This can't be good tho. His blog hasn't been updated since 9/27, so no word from him yet about the merger into Yammi USA.

Wont be good for us here in Canada for sure. I can see Yamaha Canada subsidiary being stuck in the corner like in a restaurant your there but you have to make some noise to get service. I dont think this will help sales here in Canada in fact I can see them dropping. Not good but I hope I am wrong I cant see it as being as good as it was as an entity in Canada. Time will tell.

Maybe us up north will get to pay the same prices as folks do below the border? I doubt it, but I can dream.

pricing would be nice. i just hope the warenty for canadians improves to the us standard. will not matter to me as all my stuff is long out of warenty atm.

That would be nice, but like you I have my doubts.(too many varibles)

Also, not sure how Yamaha dealers are currently making out in the U.S. but I do know we have lost some up here in Ontario already, some of which were Yamaha 5 Star dealers?

no us americans will get ur crappy warranty to save money.......

This move by Yamaha U.S. is just another example of American protectionizm, in turn these sleds will cost us Canadians even more as well as any U.S. manufacturer building snowmobiles. It's the "obama" buy american only plan, harper and him have been putting a plan together to build a fence between Canada & the U.S. and part of this deal is to put a "Tax" or "Leve" on Canadian shipping ports that will go directly to the U.S. something like the "Tax" the U.S. imposes on traveler's entering the U.S. it just seems to me that the American goverment want's to completely alienate themselves from the rest of the world.

That might make sense if all the manufacturers were doing it but Yamaha can't just raise their prices alone and expect to stay in the game. Sounds more like Yamaha Canada wasn't earning enough to justify the real estate and salaries so something has to give.

That is funny right there. Obama and buy American, build a border wall, Your kidding right LaLaLa
next you will tell me he is for unlimited snowmobiling on all federal lands and will push a bill to mandate proof of citizenship before candidacy. :jump:

He is all for American Protectionism, If your an illegal alien and you are in America, he wants to protect you from prosecution, taxes, rent, food costs, getting a job, high price of tuition, from getting insurance on the car you stole, he is all about American protectionism.

I think if you want to blame someone, it would be partially, yamaha, but I would bet there was a government backed reason there used to be separate yamaha corps in north america. Corperations exist to supply a product for a profit, If they are doing something like that, it had to do with profit to to avoid some government red tape or take advantage of some pilfered money the government is always giving away. :o|

He is not kidding about the fence at the border thats what they were tossing around. I dont think Canadians or Americans would want that so it wont fly.

I spoke to a guy in the corporate booth at the Toronto show and he just said that for now it is simply an 'accounting move' and that everything is business as usual. Long term who knows, maybe this will make it easier to downsize and restructure if sales don't pick up.
