Yamaha Performance Shops

There are some pretty rockin' people on this site, i appreciate all the offers for help. I am headed to SD to shoot some ring necks in mid-October, his shop is kind of on the way, so i will give him a call. Yamadog i would also be heading back through over Turkey Day. I can also pick your trailer ip for you if it works out. I will talk to Ulmers next week.

Morgan we will keep in touch on this!!!! I am not sure when he will be done, it is torn down and waiting on the replacement header to come in. I am hoping he is back on it this next week. I know the 4th injector and electronic boost control from MPI was being shipped. Bolt her together and start tuning and clutching. I think he has gone through everything else on the sled.

I want to get it back soon cause my Axis shock package and suspension coupler is due here today form Hygear. Not to mention sway bar changes and ski package changes I want to make.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. Ulmerknows what he's talking about but that doesn't mean that nos- pro and stingray don't know what they are talking about. Nos-pro works on his sled and then reports his findings for all those people that are do it yourself , where ulmer helps us out and sells a product. They are both really good at what they do. I like when nos- pro reports his findings because it gives me something to tinker with on my sled. Big thanks to all those that help this site become what it is..... Best sled site on the internet.

I don't think you'd want Ulmer to setup a SR Viper for the asphalt! Because your 11.2 @ 109 mph would no longer be "the worlds fastest normally aspirated Viper", I believe it's also probably the only SR Viper we know of that's setup on asphalt! You toot your own damn horn enough for everyone, but I would seriously caution you on keeping tooting the "worlds fastest normally aspirated Viper" horn, as someone will shut you up very quickly! That sled should be capable of 10.8's @ 116-117 mph if it was truly setup correctly!

WOW just wow. If you think I have something against Ulmer you are wrong. In fact I sent a guy to call Ulmer yesterday for some parts. My comment was about Ulmer being the only one that knows anything about the Viper, and ask Allen and I think even he will agree there are others knowledgeable. Not talking about myself but Tom Hartman, Cody with the Yamaha race team (who was my inspiration for the skid shock mod) and of course MPI who work hand in hand with Yamaha. I am sure I missed a bunch more I do not know about or forgot but you get my point. You are right about one thing though, find a cheap way to make the Viper better than I can and I will happily shut up and run your mods. ;)!

Some guys always do there own that is who my comments target. If you do not do your own by all means buy from your preferred vendor. And please, if you find something we have not or a mistake you see we are making let us know as we only post to share and make things better. If we wish to bicker and fight......well there is always Snowest.

I am not saying there are not a lot of great independants across the country BUT! He is relatively close and knows the turbos, The platform and has quite a bit of experience with all types of setups. Even Mr sled had both of his vipers to see him and he is a great supporter of this site offering free help whenever he can.

There is a wealth of knowledge from guys on here including NOS, Studroes, Yamahatim, Turbo Jamie and on and on but when it comes down to it $ for $ I had to make a decision on mine to go where the sled could be sorted out from bumper to bumper.

I live in the middle of a hot bed of independant shops Straightline is only a couple of miles from me and they know the sled from the CAT side and probably another 10 shops within 60 miles.

And I believe you made the right choice.

Wow this was a great thread! Lets not get into bickering and such just post help for the OP. Simple to the point posts.Who,where or how should just about cover what he is asking for.

I think the saying goes "opinions are like assholes, everyone has one". This post was meant to see if I could get some performance tuning done to my sled closer than Ulmer. If I wasn't the Cole Trickle of snowmobiling I would do it myself. Stingray and NOS gave me the idea at the end of last season and no I want to get it done before the groind tirns white.

Dog I will be going threw SD on Friday October 17th. I will most likely try to drop mine off then if Ulmers can get me in. I will be going back through there on either the 22 or 23, depending on how the birds are. If I have to leave mine there I can always bring yours back.
