Corey and Chad were both on Apex's if i'm not mistaken

We need to break the guiness world record for miles traveled on a snowmobile in 24 hr period. It was last done at Madge Lake and they used 3 different cat sleds. I say we should beat it using one sled and show them how its done.

4 out of 10 were Yamaha's. I would definately assume Cory and Chad were on Apex's. The #1 Shawn Ritchie sled that finished 5th I'm sure was a RX-1 because a friend from Gaylord/Vanderbilt owns that machine. This is the sled I was pulling for. This is a Team that knows what they're doing and puts a contending sled on the track every year. Its just a matter of time before his team wins the 500.

Did I not just mention this a few days ago on another post? Everytime Yamaha starts dominating any type of snowmobile racing, they change the rules. Never fails. Rememebr Tim Bender with the V-Max 4 formula 3 race sled?........................they went to 600cc only and forced Yamaha to retool or stepout.

No doubt, what good reason would they have to make a rule like that? The competition could certainly bring in more powerful sleds, so why is a 4 cylinder sled considered to be an unfair advantage?

Was that sled a factory 4-CYL or a 3-CYL with one cylinder cut off?

What if the 3holer is faster than the 4holer next year. If it's that same sled that Robby is running in sno-x, just think of all that tork. You put a 200+ of studs under that sled, and lower it down. Your going to see one fast 3holer.

My friend told Me that they were thinking about going back to "stock sleds" next year. I didn't have a chance to ask him exactly what that meant.
I agree with journeyman. These racing bodies just love screwing with Yamaha once they win something a couple years in a row. Ultimately the best drivers win these events. We never heard any bitching when Cory Davidson was winning on a Polaris. So why should it mean anything that he won on a Yamaha. The guy is one of the best ever on that track. The Manufacturer throwing around the most money for Sleds, Parts and contingency money certainly have to figure as a favorite if your a betting man. No matter what happens I hope Yamaha keeps up their efforts with the race program as far as the Soo I-500 is concerned. I like the oval and cross country racing alot more than snowcross. JMO.

There not taking way yamaha, just the apex. Next year you will see the 3cyl., 1050 yamaha in what ever chassie that yamaha put's it in, racing in M.I.R.A.. But the I-500 will stay the same for now, unless they deside to change too. The 4 manufacturers (yamaha,polaris,ski-doo,cat ) are trying a NEW thing. They want to keep the cost of racing down. Witch means they will all agree on what sleds they will let run. Yamaha has the 1050cc. Ski-doo, polaris, cat i'm not sure, you will have call there racing department to see what sleds they will let race. The motors will ALL be 135-140HP. The motors will be a kind-of a mod/stock right from the manufacturers. A sealed motor. No other mod's aloud to the motor, you can change the chassie to make it handle, to go around a oval track. The 4 manufacturers will have discounts on parts, sleds, and continginse money for the racers that are on the program. Racers that are not on the program will not get the discounts or continginse money. Any one that has a pro team can aply, smi-pro i'm not sure, you will have to call there racing departments for details. There trying to get more people interrested into racing. These days we need to keep the cost of racing down, unless you have a pocket full of gold for racing. This should be a good start for cheaper racing in the future.Superman said:My friend told Me that they were thinking about going back to "stock sleds" next year.
