Not a single yamaha in top 20 at the SOO 500

Any time another brand riders comes to an apex thread (on any forum not just TY) and says the Apex is a 600 class sled yammie riders come out of the wood work claiming its a competitive 1000cc class sled. So Id say every one needs to decide if its a 600 class or 1000 class sled. You cant have both to decide which ever is going working in your favor. I would think people would be happy its not being allowed to race with 600s since that would mean its finally getting its credit. I personally dont think its fair to be claiming the other brands are going against yammie.

I dont follow racing of any kind but from a quick look at the web page they re racing the f chassis so the weight argument cant really be used since the apex is only about 25-50 lbs more the the f6. I personally say if they re not racing the same class sleds then the win has no credibility. You read the nytro forum and all thats talked about is how the nytro is right with any 800 on the market. Put the new venture engine in a vector and let yamaha really prove its self as being equal to its two stroke counter parts like its been trying to prove since they switched to the four stroke market. If the venture engine is really losing a little speed to the 600s it should make it up in reliability to even things out since that is always the argument in the four strokes favor.

Do you think the 450 4 stroke motocross bikes should be allowed to run against 250cc 2 strokes? Or 250cc 4 strokes against 125cc 2 strokes? Just asking............

I think it should be equal hp. If the other sleds can get 130+ hp out of their 600 class then yamaha should do the same. As I said I dont follow any racing... I think its more interesting watching paint dry than watch someone else ride when I could be riding myself.

If the hp estimates are accurate then the nytro does fit into this class...If they use the new venture engine as a base after they re done doing the equal 600 mods its basically going to be a nytro mill. Might as well just allow stock nytros. The Apex according to everyone on any forum who owns an Apex is that its not a 600 class sled so (in my opinion) people cant be calling foul play when it gets booted out of a 600 class race.

As mentioned, the 600's are modded and making close to 150HP and are substationally lighter. So making the rules for the Soo or any race are not easy when you try to fuse two completely different sleds (4s and 2s) into the same class.
