Just watched some footage from the 2015 X-Games and noticed the Vipers are not using the A.C. gauge cluster. Looks like they are using the Nitro's gauges and electronics on the viper race sleds. Interesting. Whats this tell us?

I'm actually surprised that's legal. I thought they changed rules to make sleds closer to stock. How come they get to use the Yamaha ECU and injection and we don't?

The cross county team last year also had the Nytro gauge on the Vipers. That tells me that Yamaha used their own ECU so they could control the performance of the engine instead of using Cat's setup. I don't know if that still holds true for the cross country team this year or not.

That is so they can make fuel management changes themselves. Lincoln County Customs does the modding and tuning of the hillcross team.

I wish we were using the Yamaha wiring and ECU on the production vipers also. But we are still having lots of fun with riding even though cats logic is under the hood.

I find it hard to believe that Yamaha didn't have some input on programming the cat ecu we have especially for the reflash. The ECU is just memory. It's programming that makes it work. Don't forget about the huge hesitation the nytro had on launch if it were modded. We don't have that at all. I wonder how many with programmers have had starter fail?

Yep, if you were racing this sled would you beg Cat for ecu info or just use all the Nytro goodies stockpiled in your trailer?

It is probably far easier to use existing maps than have them sent to Cat continuously for download. That is my theory anyhoo lol
