Yellow Warning Light - Overheating

They say the temp warning light comes on at 210 F which is almost 100 C.

- In low snow or ice conditions when the Yellow light comes on because it's warm...what's the "real" deal?

- Do I have to stop and let her cool or try and dip into some snow??

- A couple times today while running hard pack in slow tight trails, the light would come on. I'd stop and let her cool.

- what exactly is the yellow light telling me??
What you can do if you think its overheating is pull over and hand scoop a bunch of snow and pile it down the on the running boards/tunnel. it helps :home:

My 06 over heats all the time... changed the fluid a few times now and still does it. According to the temp gauge I reach about 201 and light comes on. Hit the deep stuff and the temp drops like a rock.

I put a rear cooler on mine and has never had the light on since. Many I ride with would have to stop and cool with snow but I've never had too since the cooler. But I wish I had scratchers for lubicating as well. We usually don't have all ice conditions here so I've put scratchers off.

the info i posted is correct for the rx1. if the icons or lites are different for the apex thats fine. my sled has shut down from overheating at wide open throttle. coast to a stop, restart, get off frozen trail into snow and good to go.

im sure it is correct if you say it is correct.
the reason i posted is that you wrote it is probably the same for an apex.
just trying to point out to the original poster that what you posted does not apply to him

Get in deeper snow ASAP & light goes off & stays off. No snowee no coolee.

- Ok, ok...I understand that I need to get the sled into powder ASAP.

- What I'm trying to find out is how much time do I have when I see the YELLOW light come on?

- Should I pull over immediately or does the YELLOW come on, then the RED?

- Nice to know for piece of mind.

first is yellow caution do what you can and if the light dont go off it will go red and shut down before it cause any real damage BUT i would not depend on that. every time we have a light come on we stop put snow ontop of the running boards wait 2 mins startit up light will still be on but the cool antifreeze will circ around to motor shortly and light will go off. when it is warm i put snow on the boards every chance i get just helps it cool.
