Polaris 9r, going to pick it up on Saturday.
Oh Allen, I'm so disappointed in you......
Hey ever had a Doo 900 on the dyno? I put a MCX 210 setup in a bud's machine and he claims it actually runs pretty good. Certainly not 998 fast, but outruns the 900's and 850 turbo stuff easily enough. Should run with a stock 998 I would think, maybe not top end but close perhaps. I don't think he's run against a stocker yet at all. You know him, Chad O.

Already made my decision last Spring. Leftover 23 Boost. Love the sled so far, but don't have enough seat time to discuss long term satisfaction.
On a recent trip to Old Forge though, it never made it off the trailer.
Put 360 miles on my 06 Apex and had a ball. Suspension isn't as much of a concern on smooth frequently groomed trails. And the old Apex can still rail quite well. And the modded engine still hauls the mail! And that 4 hole mill still sounds sweet!
Best of both worlds I suppose.

Sometimes we have to experiment in life, LOL!
I haven't had any DOO 900 stuff out yet. I know the MCX stuff is usually pretty good.

At 46 and with the winters we are having I will likely keep my 998 for the foreseeable future.

18 Winder LTX LE W/EPS

It will be a long way down the road for me. I have wrestled with this thought for a while now. I finally settled this and picked up a 2025 LTX LE! These 998's with EPS are just flat out amazing. So, I'm good for many years to come. The 18 has 12,000 miles and still has plenty of life left, it also has OEM EPS that I added last year along with many mods over the years. Enjoy the hell out of that sled so it helped with my decision to purchase the Final Edition 2025.

As I said, in the conditions I was riding in, the ole Apex still flat out works. Still love the engine performance but, have never cared for the suspension performance in the rough. But in the smoother trails it still runs with the best of them! Why didn't it get off the trailer???
Had it been bumpy, the Apex would have stayed on the trailer.

- 2022 Tcat EPS,
2014 ZR9000 (sold)
1978,1979,1980 SRX (sold)
I see nothing that will replace my 22 Tcat. I rode it 110 miles yesterday in tight trails, switchbacks, and on the lakes. With EPS, GPS, a 225/240/270 tune, and all the small things improvements made through the advice on this site, I cannot think of a sled I would like better. I added a Ron Ward torsional kit and my TAPP clutch this year. I see 13/14MPG trail riding, the EPS keeps my arms and shoulders fresh after a long day, and having the suspension dialed into my preferences makes it all work for me.

- 2009 Yamaha nytro and polaris 600 rush
I appreciate this question as Im unsure what I want next. Buy a new sidewinder before you cant get one, make a switch to polaris or keep the nytro going. I have been on a 2009 yamaha nytro with a ulmer turbo. I love the power it has so I am concerned i wont be happy with less. Im curious on your thoughts for the guys that have had turbo stuff such as a nytro turbo and sidewinder. The guys that are buying the 9R or the boost please share your thoughts if you would! I just cant make my mind up.

(Mountain riding) I know a boost can keep up with me in the steep, but not so much in the deep.I appreciate this question as Im sure what I want next. 9R couldn't keep up, it's more aimed for technical riding.

- 2023 VR1 BOOST, 2022 XCR 850
2018 Thundercat with TD Jukebox header tunes
My 2023 Boost VR1 with a Speedwerx stage 2.5 pump gas tune is a beast. I would say it is probably comparable to a 998 with a 270 tune, but the Boost is quicker. The Boost is also more fun to ride. I also have a 998 Thundercat with TD's 265/285/305/315 header tunes. It's a great sled too, but I tend to ride the Boost far more often.

I don’t see anything out there that I would buy at this time.. I made my decision on what Iam riding for the next five years last march when I bought 2024 LTX EPS and I kept my 2017 LTX and if need be still could break out my 2006 Apex which still runs perfect after 18 years . Iam not a high mileage guy but I will put on a 100 miles in a morning ride as I like freshly groomed flat trails. I have no problem jumping on any of them as they are all set up to put a smile on my face.. Iam sure there will be new sleds in the future that will be better in many area’s but at what cost and how long will they run.. I am pretty sure these Sidewinders will last good many years and have very few problems with proper care and bring many hours of enjoyment as they have this winter.. As they say …. Too each his own….

I just put an Rmotion in my 08' 40th Apex and it has been transformed!!! It is a joy to ride now other than the low seating position. Working on that now. Looking for a Mountain Mod seat.As I said, in the conditions I was riding in, the ole Apex still flat out works. Still love the engine performance but, have never cared for the suspension performance in the rough. But in the smoother trails it still runs with the best of them!
