I posted this on TY Forums. Typical Yamaha. They could have dropped the winder motor in that machine with a few more chassis tweaks and would have sold the hell out of it. But just like sleds, they take the back seat and not give the consumer what they want.

Just like the banshee, yfz450r, and raptor. Those designs never got updates. In the decade since.

They have figured out that the customer is demanding machines like the RMAX where Yamaha is very competitive with the General and Commander. The YXZ is not competitive in it's segment. The market for crossover machines is growing greatly. For those that want the performance machines, they are going with the big dogs. Except in states with width restrictions.
Like you said, it's not that it cannot competitive be with more juice. It would be highly likely that Yamaha comes back with a redesign and jumps back in. But if it is not cost effective as is to produce, they needed to drop it.
My guess with the new folks at the helm of Arctic Cat, that Wildcat XX will see a factory turbo before Yamaha jumps on board. The guys in my group that have souped up the XX, are seeing Sidewinder/Thundercat hp numbers on pump gas. Making the XX a trail weapon. Now if it just wasn't so cheesy built on the inside. Maybe a Yamaha Turbo YXZ built in the AC plant? (sorry, too soon to make a joke?)
