Z1 turbo

Cool sounds good!!! Come on little NYTRO GO GO GO!! HAHAHAH

Skydog

geez....sounds like even moderately tweaked with the hijacker to around 200 h.p. would be a hell of a ice pump gas trail sled?

I for one would just need my ipod on hi to drown out the industrial sounds

I have personally ran two z1 turboe,s ,one with the hijacker set-up and one nitrous set-up
In a 1000 feet , I caught the hijacker by a ski , the nitrous I can,t say as he claims to have lifted before the end.
The hijacker set-up is definatly something to be reckoned with, they run well
I was running 10lbs boost on Powderlites set-up ;)!

So what was the outcome of this...

Raced 3 z1 turbo's that were highly modified at Lake Mitchel at the end of the season. Piece of cake , was not impresed. They sound weird. I'll keep the Turbo Warrior. I was over 5 sled lengths ahead at the end. Just my experience with them on the ice. They did hook up good.
Just my 2-cents.

I ran one with the box set at 190 hp with my Attak (Ulmer air box mod,PC-111, and timing key) and he could not get away from me till he pushed the extra boost button and that was only good for a ways till the detonation control took over and shut it down. It will need race fuel or meth and you will still eat it for lunch. I will put up the grand if i keep the winning's. Mike Knap had one and got rid of it because they are dog's. I think it was Glen Halls that ran well at Cable last spring but that was about it. He will need close to 40 more hp to get it done, They just don't seem to put it to the snow. Oh yah they sound GAY!!!!!! kviper

How much boost were you running?

I have run a half a dozen Z1 turbos all with boondocker setups including Glenn halls and his old one and let me tell you in the right hands they roll, if you can't beat them off the line its all over because they come on hard. On the ice at the weenie roast Glenn ran 131mph in a 1000ft on the ice stock motor bigger turbo, boondocker box, and straight pipe, His old one ran 124 in a 1000' that same weekend with stock turbo. The only down fall is it sounds like a tractor so if you own a john deere you might want to buy a Z1 turbo.

Glenn's sled is strictly a race sled. It's never seen a trail if only to get down to the lake. The difference between a race sled vs a trail sled is huge no matter what brand or model. Few years back I remember my neighbor was spoutin off about his wicked Thundercat, he wanted to race against my stock ZRT800 one day when I was out testing. I laughed at him and said he wouldn't get a whiff of my ZRT600 let alone the 800.I pulled the little stock ZRT600 out just to prove a point. We lined up and I told him to take off when ever he wanted, he thought I was nuts. Told him to go anytime he felt like it. He nailed his throttle and I followed suit. I blew past him within 10 feet held it open for 3-4 seconds, let off and waited for him to come alongside, hit it again and pulled away for the second time. He never let off his throttle. He thought he had a real good lake race machine till that day. That is the difference between a race sled and just a trail sled.

The Z1 while being a good riding and handling machine, makes an awful performance machine against anything else. I figure them to be lacking around 25-30 HP stock and as much at 60 HP when you start cranking up the boost on the boondocker.

When mine was stock (183 HP supposed), my neighbors RX-1 with ECP filter kit and clutching would slightly walk away from the "fastest production sled ever", on a real trail. They are lame from a performance standpoint.

My sled (Stage III MPI supercharged Apex / 136" full body/weight set up for ice) ran a modded/race z1t last Feb/March at White Lake owned by a guy who goes by turborichie on some forums...

It was pretty close but the Apex won by a few in 660'..and that was by far the fastest z1t I've seen on the ice...it ran very well, not sure what he had done but it wasn't even in the same ballpark as the z1t's I've seen and ridden with the highjackers maxxed out and on good gas.

Only ran him once, Apex was at 21-22# of boost and has definitely made better passes than that particular run if that matters.
