I just picked up the Attak GT yesturday, what a beautiful sled! Problem being however a bit small but Yamaha did not properly address the stupid zert fitting issue. Grease still pumps 90% out of the sides of the zerts instead of in them in the rear skid.

I know this is a minor issue with some pretty easy fixes out there, but c'mon this is also an easy fix for yammi that should have been addressed for 07. I voiced my opinions to the dealer and they where more than willing to work with me but I drove 2 hours to pick the sled up, so I was not about to leave the sled at that point. I will take care of it myself, I know I still will be riding that absolute best sled made so I cant bitch too much.

OK I'm done whining, It just bugs me that Yamaha did such a fantastic job on the new iron and over looked some silly chit again for 07.

This is total bs. I don't mind problems, but they should fix "Known" problems not continue to perpetuate them. Just my opinion and I could be wrong.

It is not a standard fitting, they are installed by what is known as "percussion welding". The fitting is pressed in and hit with a shot of electricity, or at least that is how it was explained to me. This does not seal the fitting, but it dose hold it in place. J.B. weld has been the cheap fix that works well. To bad you have to do that on a new machine. :o|

The word last year was ya need to break em in a little to make room for the grease I didn't have any on my 05 and rode 2500 miles before i had them installed. All parts were still intact normal wear and tear, although i did replace the plastic bushings anyway. I'm much happier knowing i have the ability to grease without dissmantling. Just wondering if the issue could be to your advantage where when full instead of squishing out at hard to reach places it comes out at the fitting? Can anyone say if they notice (on a broken in skid), when you grease does it immediately come out the fitting or does it accept a certain amount of grease first!

Just a thought

Steve I dont see the benefit of having a grease nipple leaking and making a mess instead of having full shot of grease going to where it is intended. I mean that is why the grease nipple is there in the first place. This is just shoddy assembly which will not look good to new yamaha riders or the old true blue ones.

well atleast you know the handwarmers are going to work good.. LOL (im kidding)

It sucks but what can ya do,,, we really nit pic these sleds nowadays

Is it nit picking or just asking for the quality we have come to know from yamaha. These sleds are high priced and quality should show and lend itself to the product and show what you got for your dollar. I dont understand if it is that easy a fix they should have corrected it and be done with it. Oh well like you said the hand warmers will be warm and the ride is second to none. I rode one for about about 30 mins last year on the Manitoba TY ride and it felt tippy at first but man what a ride and the handling was excellent. I should not have ridden it now it is calling to me to buy a new one.

I think you are right that after breaking in they will take grease better, but still unacceptable. You were lucky that after 2500 miles your skid wasn't junk. After 500 miles I needed bushings and spacers, mine were egg shaped.

Much of the problem for many people, does go away if you ride it for 200 miles or so before you grease it, that gives a path of least resistance for the grease.

They arent threaded in (tubing is too thin to do that) They are basically set in a hole and tack welded on. Might be difficult to put a weld all the way around the fitting.

WOW, I opened a can o worms!! LOL

I would like to think you guys are correct in the break in theory! As far as "someware for the grease to go" theary that sounds great as well if it was a designed overflow, problem being the grease does not even flow to a point of backpressure, with one pump it simply dumps out the sides of the non threaded zert fitting. I can see the ease of manufactering doing it the Yamaha way, but make the hole a tighter tolorance so it is essentially a net fit. The heat of the 2 tack welds could also being "pulling" the hole open but either way it is frustrating pumping grease into a zert and have it leak all over the skid instead of perform it simple function.

I do love the sled however ;)!

The break in theory is a joke in my opinion as is the possibility of blowing out the bushings from grease pressure. It is sloppy manufacturing pure and simple.
