The best way to solve it if you have a fitting that just wont take grease other than to leak it out, is to take it to the dealer.
I will say that Yamaha has used this zerk installation process at least back to 1994. The break-in method has worked for me on 8 different sleds, well 6 different sleds because it took me awhile to figure out that it did the trick. Only problem I ever had is I broke one off on a 96 sled due to my own stupidity.

My dealer refuses to sell any sleds without his fixing all the leeks with JB Weld. To me this is BS and only Yamaha loyalists would accept it two years in a row.

My dealer was more than willing to work with me as well, but the fix (band aide) is JB Weld I can simply do that myself. Pulling the skid apart and installing the zerts correctly would be my prefurred outcome but once again I did not wish to wait after driving 2 hours to pick my sled up. Like I said it is only a small annoyance but those are the ones that simply get under your skin. I will fix the issue but the fact is that it should have been addressed after it plagued the 06's last year.
Just my 2 cents

i took my skid apart today and when assembling it i greased it and thought it was leaking around the zerk , only to find out it leaked where it was welded. good thing i can weld.

Too much heat when welding may ruin the spring and ball in the ZERK fitting. You could also distort the tube the ZERK fitting is attached to. JB Weld is the way to go.

Wow, I thought it was me not remembering how to use a grease gun. I tried to shoot some grease in my skid before my last trip and all I did was make a mess. My Rage had 650 miles in it at the time. G.B.
