Just got back from my last 4 day trip to the U.P. (marquette)

2005 standard ZR900 with 144 studs (all stock) 2200 miles
2006 Apex GT 144 studs (all stock) 1500 miles

both sleds are amazingly close...

we raced several times on several types of conditons on different days with similar results...

If he got the jump off the line i would pull about 2 sled lengths ahead by the time we hit 50mph and i would stay there past 100mph..

The one time i hole shoted him badly and was atleast 6-8 lenghts ahead and by the end of a half mile he was starting to catch me on the top end but i shut it down before he had time to pass me..!

After that run i changed my belt thinking i was over reving and this time he never gained on me on the top end..

both sleds pretty much top out at 100mph on the snow... (this was down hill on hardpack with lots of tracks for better than 1500 feet)(my speedo read 109mph)

I was pulling 10,700 out of the hole and pulled up to 10,900 on top!

I weight 210 with gear... he is 190 with gear!

On a better note... I got 13-16mpg... and he got 9.2-10 mpg and he already needs to have his shocks rebuilt because it is handling poorly already!

Yamaha made one hell of a fast four stroke that gets great gas milage has electric start and reverse and still handles and rides as good as any sled on the market! ;)!

Good post welt, yes i thought they would be close all the way thru,i am surprised only by the some what low top speed of both sleds on top end while running on snow, i thought my attak was slow on snow but it has gone 108-112 gps on 3" of hard pack that was sloopy one 45 degree day last week, and than today only going 111 gps on bare ice,but overheating and melting slides,so maybe better tomorrow, but at any rate the zr is no slouch and either is the apex..

the apex has heavier stearing but definitly rides better and is more comfortable than the zr.. (seat feels like a flat tire)

I couldnt wait to get back on my sled after riding the zr for 10 miles...

Id rather have a F7 than a zr at this point

I love it too! Not only is it fast - but it's sooooooooo much more practical than my SRX for all of the reasons you listed above. Just turn the key and rip!
