I am kicking around a 144 ZX2 for my Apex - AD Boivin will ship it with my choice of spring options, here is what they sent to me:
What you call the triple rate spring is the SOFT kit for us. (There is 3 rates in the soft spring )
It depends of your weight, up to 180 - 190 lbs it is OK with the soft, heavier you should keep the regular springs.
Just tell me your choice when you send me the measures.
I weigh 220 in street clothes! I want to order it the correct configuration.
Thanks

Keep the heavier springs.

I am 220 in street cloths and never had a issue with the springs being to stiff, I didn't have a option when I ordered just got what they came with it.

My problem was not with the springs being too stiff on compression but the inability of the shocks to control the rebound of the heavier spring.. It became intolerable with the stock springs in my mind. I eventually revalved the shocks and went to dual rate springs.

I would get the stock/stiff springs. I weigh about 190 lbs, and can bottom out the skid pretty easy if I pound through big bumps.

tkuss - you positive everything is mounted correctly and you got the right mount kit? I got 30lbs on you and run it as hard as I can take it through deep stuff and never bottomed out on a mogual it was only a deep G out that I got the thing to bottom out twice.
One time I wanted to see what it would take and I just took off through some 3-4' whoops and it was awesome! I never bottomed out once in the 5-6miles stretch I would normally dread. I was amazed.

I never bottom skid--maybe twice a year---2500--3000 miles.

Yes it is installed right. I guess I should not of said I can bottom it out easy. On normal trails it is very hard to bottom. I bottom the skid in areas where I know the trails very well and if I know there is a big g-out coming up I will push the sled to its limits and will hit at 80mph to see if it bottoms out, and it does. So I guess I kind of go out of my way to try and make the skid bottom out, lol. I really love the ZX-2 though. Just wish the shocks had compression/rebound adjustment.
Also I never had brand new shocks in skid. I got them rebuilt over summer and now when I push down on the rear of the sled the skid doesnt even move, like many others have said how theres is. Last year I could push down on the rear and it would actually move.
I also got the shocks valved stiffer this year, I am thinking I will really be able to pound on this sled now. I am getting pretty excited.

Oh ok, I was thinking you were bottoming on big moguls in a trail, but yes if I intentionally try and hit a bump I knwo is coming I can get it to do it every other time. I have never bottomed out when I DIDN'T expect it.
Shocks will help a ton, I'm thinking of valving to SHANE spec and see if I can get them to ride a titch better in the small stutters, otherwise this skid is dialed in from AD Bolvin.
