LMAO - chill - I have an Expert and prefer it over everything else as well.
You made a great point about the wheels and mounting plates.
All sleds have sag when you sit on them - wasn't debatin with you.
Need for speed - you just described every skid made :)
The Xpert sits higher than any stock Poo or Cat skid - as does the M-10. You can't gain more travel without raising the tunnel height.
You can alleviate that to a degree by lessening the shock angle and setting the springs on the...
The Xpert has adjustability of the shock angle that allows you to change ride height. You'll want to check with Boivin for the exact amount it can be lowered.
Yes I understand what you are saying now - I ran an M-10 on my 02XC8 and a buddy had the same sled with the Edge. The edge has a better attack angle( less) at the front compared to the M-10. the ExpertX is more than the Edges and less than the M-10.
Basically it won't be as good as the Edge...
Pro - I should have been more specific - that was in relation to runnin an Expert or M-10.
Cat, Poo, Proaction equal more speed
M-10 and Xpert - better bump handlin.
I love my Expert and I'll take a 2-3 mph hit - I run a Turbo now anyways so I am still faster than most out there. If your looking to do mostly speed runs - your not gonna want a skid that sits you as high as the Xpert - always a tradeoff.
As for slowing when hitting more snow - I would...
X-pert will rob some top end - not as bad as the M-10 or Monoshock - but it will. The Cat or Poo skid will be faster - just won't handle the bumps as well.
I think the fact that the hot exhaust running above the track kinda kills that theory.
I have had the Mono, M-10 and now Expert - all three longer travel skids seem to rob a tiny bit from the top end - I even ran the tracks from as loose as possible to as tight as factory specs.
The mistakes are what makes the show a joke. How do you think it looks to people outside of sledding to see those numbers - they must all be scratching their heads.
Pinks was a good idea butchered. You guys did good - they screwed it up.
I am all for doing things myself - I would not reccomend pulling the motor on your own unless you have a lot of free time on your hands and you are very comfortable with working on sleds. I just did it and you have to basically disassemble everythnig under the hood. The steering, the delta...
The Vmax was nowhere near as low as 120 - tuned with pipes asphalt guys are saying more like 160+. If it was - then that Apex was a pile and the NOS wasn't working.
HP ratings are generally taken from the engine - not the track. When yam claims 150 - it is at the engine. I assume they are...
I believe Yams service allows 13 hours for removal, teardown, rebuild and re-assembly - multiply that times the shop rate - $60-$80 U.S.. Rings are $100 US. Add all the gaskets that have to and should be replaced - thats another $100 and why Yam doesn't sell a gasket kit for that engine I don't...
Seeing as you have an 05 - I would look at replacing the rails. Yam made a lot of changes to strengthen up the mono 121 skid from 05 to 06. Adding extensions is only going to increase the possibility of problems.
I always knew the FST was a better handler - never figured it to be quicker and faster. Still had it's share of problems - if Pol gets those ironed out it is one nice lookin sled. Still rather have the Turbo on the Yam4 holer.
