    Apex water run!!

I agree totally, I wear a FZR floater suit and the boots. But like I mention above, knowing you can do it if you have to helps. With more trails being closed from people buying more and more land, trails are being forced to run lakes. And I hate crossing lakes that I do not know, to many of...

    Apex water run!!

These are captured pictures from the videos. I do not have a site to post videos. Looking at the first picture you can really see the force of the water hitting the belly pan, no wonder water will get to the belt .[/img]

    Attak Overheat

3 weeks ago I had the overheating problem. We had to run lakes with no snow. I was overheating every time we ran a lake. Last weekend we were running the same lakes that had no snow and I was not overheating. The only difference was that I dropped the preload on the rear shock to minimum...

    Apex water run!!

Well I took the Attak on water on Friday. Only 90 or so feet with 6 passes, but for my first time that was good enough. I was close to refusing to do it until my friend did several passes with his Renegade and the his wife did it with her 1200 TNT. That really left me with little choice, I...

    revalve or stiffer spring?

I also had the larger spring put on, the shock could not handle it. It needed the shock revalve. Far better ride. Worth every dollar. However I found that the preload needs to be dialed right down in lowsnow/hardsnow conditions to prevent overheating (I have not got the rear heat exchanger...

    Reverse Adjustment

I had that problem last weekend and just figured out the problem yesterday. The linkages all seemed OK. I adjusted the vertical as mentioned above. On the stand it worked fine. As soon as I tried taking it out of the garage it popped out of gear again. A friend stopped over to look at it...

Cooling System Failure...Double check your sled

Good catch. I just checked mine and both rivets were broken off. The Left side of the pipe is worn about halfway through. Depending on how the cable ties hold I may have to replace it this year.

Ski-Doo 1200 4-Tec - How do they compare to an Apex?

Two of the people I ride with have the 1200's. He has the long track, his wife the short track. Running in loose snow conditions I cannot come close to staying with them. The Pilots really do a good job of handling the loose stuff. Hard packed trails is another matter, I can turn just as...

    Where is the weight

I'll go for the extra durability. A friend of mine on a new Doo clipped a rock on the bottom A-arm and put a severe kink in it. It was removed on the side on the trail and partial straightened by HAND (and a couple of trees close together). Good enough to get it back to the truck. I have hit...

    riser's for apex?

I have the 2" Rox riser. I find it much more comfortable sitting down and doing a little standing. This weekend we stood for hours on some really miserable trails and the 2" just did not cut it. I will be going to a 3 1/2" or 4" riser within the week. Oh and I needed the mountain cable for...

    Which GPS unit to buy?

I have the Garmin Rhino 520 and the Legend. Since I bought the Rhino I have not even turned the Legend on. I use the Rhino in my truck and sled. If you do not ride with others that have the Rhino then it is not worth the money, the 60CSX is a better investment if you are looking also to use...

Start of Iron Dog 2000 Mile Race today

That looks like one heck of run. I think I will just watch. Here's the link to the next endurance race. http://www.cainsquest.com/english.php?page=home Oh, 2 Nytros won the 2008 race.

    Doo temptation

I really do not care if the sticker says 1 person only. If someone breaks down and needs a ride out of the bush I will give them that ride. I am not leaving them behind while I go looking for someone with a two-up.

What jackets do you wear on your apex?

FXR Flotex...and it does float. I jumped into a pool with it on.

    Doo temptation

Two of the people I ride with traded in FST's for MX-Z 1200's. His is a Renegade and his wife's is a TNT. They came with a curios configuration. The long track did not have handlebar hooks while the short track had a very small windshield. The Renegade also has the problem of kicking out of...

    Fuelpump relay

I just gave my spare relay to another Apex rider when his sled would not start. He had the dealer replace all 3 relays (not the headlight) two days before for the update relays. So two days old and it was frozen. -23C. Same temperature that mine froze at and why I now carry a spare. None...

    Rox Riser

I can't find the receipt, but I believe it was $15-$20. It cost $66 to get it installed, includes a "NUT, SPRING" $7, that was also replaced. Yamaha replaced it in 45 minutes. No way would I have been able to do that in a cold garage. $66 well spent. It was -25C today.

    Rox Riser

After installing the 2" riser on my sled I found that I could not rotate the handle bars back to where I wanted them without the TORS kicking in when turning the handle bars right. I tried to find slack in the routing of the cable but could not find any. I ordered the Mountain Cable as...
