Did you flood it by starting it and shutting it off? On these sleds you can't do multiple cold start cycles esp. when it is very cold or it will foul the plugs. I would fill the oil and monitor it. My rtx has never used any oil in a season, last year that was 1700 miles. Check the lower corner...
The good thing is that the arms bent and it probobly did no damage to the bulkhead. If the front arms are too strong and you hit something the damage to the bulkhead would make an a-arm replacement look like nothing. It still sucks though. I had a Viper that I ran over RR tracks at a trail...
Sounds like the screw that holds the hyfax in came out or broke. Were you riding on a road or low snow? Maybe if that were the case the hyfax melted to the track and stuck to it in reverse. That's the only idea I have.
Mine cracked by the bolt too, also mine only leaks when it is cold out. Even then it is a little weaping, not enought to even make it on the floor. I noticed this last season and I cleaned the tank off in the spring. When I looked at it in early fall the tank was still dry in that corner. Now it...
My sled cracked the upper arm, very small, at about 2700 miles. I caught it doing skid maintance. The 2008 part is updated, well see how it holds up. I still have a 2006 style arm and i'll watch it. I'm curious to know if a stiffer suspension that minimally bottoms has more or less tendancy to...
These sleds have some play in the steering, I think it is due to the number of joints and linkages in the steering system. The lower bushing in the steering shaft right above the gas tank seems to wear and cause eccessive side to side play in the bars too. I just read a post how one member made...
With all the hype about how much lighter the new XP is, i'm sure that the outter runner was dropped to save weight. I would go with the dual runner pilots , they work very well.
Hayastusa, I went to the blow up pic. of the chaincase in the parts fishe off of the Port Yamaha site and printed it. It gives a detailed pic of where all those washers go and the order that all the componenets go together. You can also magnify the pic. to see more detail. Hope that helps.
I understand your need to vent but don't expect everyone to agree with you. These new yammies are probobly one of the easiest sleds i've worked on, i've done a track and it was easier than many others i've done in the past on other stuff. The side panels come off so you have direct access to the...
The dial on the tunnel is 80% rebound and 20% compression. It does make a difference but sometimes in the stock form it is not enough to prevent bottoming.
I had a ripsaw with 144 in it and after I had numerous stud issues last season, I went with the new Ice Ripper 1.25 lug, I rode 180 miles yesterday and I am impressed with it. It has built-in ice picks that work well. If you are a person who needs the holeshot on hardpack this track may not be...
The pilots on the 08 REV XP only have a center carbide, they are not even drilled for the outside one. I noticed the same things as you did when I was riding yesterday onm freshly groomed trails. it would dart a little and sometimes lift a ski or push in the corners. I have 1700 miles on my...
My RTX went 2700 miles and I changed them because I had the skid out, They were almost worn. I notice the 1st few hundres miles wears the hyfax down and then they stay the same for a long time. Make sure all your wheels are still good, if they are worn or the bearings have a lot of play they...
Did you time the dial with the shock before you put it together? The cable turns opposite the dial so turn the dial all the way clockwise till it stops with the cable disconnected from the shock. Now useing a small screwdriver turn the adjuster in the shock all the way counterclockwise till it...
My RTX lifts the inner ski but it also plants the outside one and it handles very well this way. I guess it has to do with what you are comfortable with. I run the 12mm sway bar and that helped. Also as stated hear lower psi in the floats makes a difference in how it handles.
I just looked up the fan blade on the fisch and it turns out all you can get is the whole assembly with the motor, and that is 130.00 so I guess i'll be looking for a used one or leave it alone but my luck would be that now that I know I have no fan it will overheat. Would have been nice to...
I was doing some maintanance on my RTX and noticed that the small cooling fan for the radiator above the right footwell has no fan blade on it, the motor is there but no fan blade or nut that holds it on. Even if it was there and fell off it would have no where to go and would be sitting in the...
It will be interesting to see how these skids do, looks like a great skid. Post this in the aftermarket suspension forum too, there is alot off ZX2 stuff in there.
