So for those who have done this. What were the gains. Is it noticeable or not? I see that I am not shifting out either. I am 3/4 of an inch from top. I am sure there is an improvement to be had there, just curious what real world results are.
It has been trial and error so far. The low end is easy to feel because it bogs real bad. The main jet is tougher because the proper way to do it is by reading the plugs. I have not done that yet. Nor do I plan to. I might buy some dyno time to get an air fuel reading and adjust...
I will be playing with taking some fuel away too. I really need to spend some time on a dyno to get the air/fuel mixture prefect all the way through. I know I had originally richened up the main jet setting. It seemed to like it when I leaned it back up a couple spots. Picked up a little...
Have not been on a dyno so I don't know. I did not want the fix powersports kit because I dont want a hole in the top which is more exposed to the elements. And, I personally do not care for the looks of it. Clutch kit, Allen knows what he is doing, but for me, the stock feels good and runs...
Hesitation and popping is also a common sign of a lean condition which these do have. I bought a Hauck fuel programmer and it works nice. Much crisper throttle response everywhere.
Here are a few pics of this mod half done. They fit absolutely perfect in there and allow you to retain the airbox. You can open it up as much or as little as you choose. this might take a couple of tries in posting the pics but I'll get it. Its been a while since I put pics on here.
I am studded. I used 1.340 Roetins with Woodys angle plates. Double backers in the middle, and singles in every other outside row. I didn't get holeshotted all day. Pretty good for a stock clutch set up to leave that hard. I do think my weight helps with hole shots.
I did set my...
I consider it stock. Look at grass drags, you can change gearing and jetting and still be in the stock class. You cannot say changing a gear makes it not stock. The only power adder is the fuel accelerator which according to Allen and his dyno, helps if you do filters, timing key etc. I have...
First off, I could not ask for more out of this thing. Unbelieveable! As for the darting, not an issue. I have stock ski's that I shimmed and this thing is as stable as any other sled I have ridden. And this is with the stock carbides still. Not putting on new ones until we get more snow...
I have a Hauck fuel accelerator so I can adjust for the added air flow. Can you give me an idea of how you mounted the airbox lid to the hood. It sounds like a piece of cake. How did you fasten it?
Here's a quick snap shot of what I am doing:
I bought some UNI filters that were on the...
I might have run across an awesome airfilter set up for the apex. My question is this, when doing the K&N's do you eliminate the bottom of the airbox all together or just modify it for more air. I wouldn't imagine that adding the filters in the stock box would add anything. Once I figure this...
Parking brake on will hold the gear while loosening the bolt on the upper gear. Track on ground will also apply additional resistance to chain turning on you. No other tools required. Cover kind of a pain to get back on if you have reverse. Once you do it once its no biggie. But it has to...
Welcome newbie, but I disagree with not sharing the info. How would you know to send your stuff to Ulmer if it weren't for the open discussions on this forum. The reason this site is so great is because there is so much good information on it!
