im looking more accerlation out of the hole then top speed. i have 06 apex er. what gear can i run to get more hole shot then top speed. and do i have to do any clutching ? ty for the help

Just install the 23 top gear, same chain and great hole shot, but for the most do a stage 2 clutch kit, either proline or hh or allens kit.

how is it changing the gear? anything u need beside the gear and oil ?
If its like my 03 rx1,you may have to hold the bottom gear somehow to undo the upper nut,for removal, but basic oil and go,be very careful with the rubber gasket seal, dont pinch it on reinstall.

Parking brake on will hold the gear while loosening the bolt on the upper gear. Track on ground will also apply additional resistance to chain turning on you. No other tools required. Cover kind of a pain to get back on if you have reverse. Once you do it once its no biggie. But it has to go on a certain way.

I have been looking through posts here for a while on this topic, I have also come to the conclusion that a 23t gear and stage 2 clutch kit are the way to go. These are going into my 06 ER next week.

isnt the parking brake one of the first things to come off when changing your gear...i just changed my top gear on my 06 rtx,not a big deal....

Yes,
kind of hard to use the parking brake when its already removed!

I use a Impact wrench and have no problems removing bolts from top and bottom gear

Make sure you have good studding.. ive heard the gearing and clutching doesnt help much unless you can get the extra HP to the ground..
