    Ignition failure ?

Have you tried a new set of spark plugs. I had a problem with my 06 while not exactly like your problem it was similar and it turned out to be a fouled plug. My motto is try the simple things first

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

With the forum so quiet it makes one think that there aren't many problems with the vk pro. (or not much snow) I had my first run today with about 2 feet of powder and in some places(drifts) more. The 11 inch skins sure do a good job of keeping that heavy front on top of the snow. Hope...

    Won't start in cold

After having three 4-stroke snowmobiles I have to say that starting was the least of the problems I have encountered. Where I live the temps aren't terribly cold but -25c and even -30c is not unusual. Never had any cold weather starting issues. the biggest issue seems to be getting used to the...

JACK SHAFT AND MAIN SHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT

I have an 08 with 9000km and had the chaincase bearing replaced last season so I would suggest you change it and while you have the skid out you should change any bearings that are doubtful. I had to replace the one in the middle on the back shaft on my 06 after 5000 km.

    06 VK spark plug change

I have changed plugs a few times without having to disconnect the hoses. Not real easy to work at but it can be done. The caps are also a bit hard to remove. If i remeber correctly you have to push and twist. Then you have to use the special plug wrench to get at the plug. it is a good thing...

    Unhappy Viking owner

I don't know if any of you guys are familar with Cains' quest, but it is one of the most severe snowmobile endurance races in the world and takes place in the wilds of Labrador. This is all off trail. You aren't allowed to use groomed trails. The first year it was won by two gentlemen on vk...

    Unhappy Viking owner

sounds to me like you should buy the cat. I had 9000 km on my 06 and have just about 8000 on my08 and like I said in my post i have had some issues with the vk but with regard to the tippyness it is not a lot different than the rest of the four stroke widtracks. You have to set it up for your...

    Unhappy Viking owner

I am now on my second vk pro and although there are some issues and I have made some adjustments this sled is comparable with any of the widtracks out there I travel in the back contry more than I do on groomed trails and have no problems with steering . My 08 has nearly 8000 km on it and...

The next Yamaha Widetrack? 80FI-based pull-ease!

The 06 didn't have the problem with the shifting as it only had the hi/r transmission which worked the same way as the tf.

The next Yamaha Widetrack? 80FI-based pull-ease!

I have had two vk pros 06 and 08 and between the two sleds have driven them over 16000 kms without any major issues. If yamaha could do something with the tippiness and put a softer skid underneath they woul have hands down the king of the widetracks. the thing pulls like a tractorbut rides...

    Handlebar free play

I have owned 2 vk pros and 06 and an 08 and both have had what seems like too much play in the steering and every vk i have seen has the same so I guess it is only normal.

    Rear snow flap

I owned an o6 vk pro and had a hard time keeping the flap out of the tunnel. so much so that it bent the attachment completley out of shape I have updated to the 08 model and before I took delivery i had the dealer remove both the flap and the attchment. I then went to a sheet metal shop and...

    Voltage Rectifier Failure

I don't have a picture but I can tell you where to look. Right in the front there is a rubber flap. Pull it back and underneath the frame you will see the voltage regulator and there are two plugs into it. that is where the problem starts I pull them apart and use electrical grease to keep the...

Grooming in Vermont with 08 VK Pro

Just a bit of advice about leaving your sled in the heat overnight after being out in the cold all day. A few years ago I tried doing the same thing and had all kinds of condensation problems. I ended up taking the tank out and drying it out completely to get rid of the water. (and leaving my...

    Voltage Rectifier Failure

had the same problem with my 06 vk pro in the second season I now have the 08 and am using electrical grease on it every now and again to keep the water out. I mentioned this on this site back when it happened in dec of 07. I have seen a few more sleds with this exact same problem vk owners you...
