Yes, long threaded rod is to assemble. Presses caliper housing (with bearing) onto track shaft (have to have deep cup to go over track shaft and sized to contact inner race of bearing). Push caliper housing onto shaft until bearing contacts inner snap ring. Can be done with chain case fully...
For those who may not have seen it, Travis H at BOP created a template for a puller for the caliper housing (with bearing in it) for use when one presses the bearing on. No need for a center bolt because the plate just pushes on the end of the track shaft. If you print this template at 100%...
No, the issue with the tensioner is the screws that hold the wheel i to the arm come loose or fall out all together! Tighten screws then tack weld or use red loctite.
I did this (interference fit bearings/ie press fit) 5 years ago and happy to report all is well with both tracks shaft bearings. No driveshaft saver necessary, no spinning, no wobbling rotor, no flexing tunnel). Both bearings are happy. I do regrease clutch side bearing. I use puller...
There's valid reasons guys choose to use a filter that isn't sold by Yamaha or Cat.
Some are:
1. Availability- many live hours drives from a dealer. They can get an aftermarket one with verifiable performance specs 5 min from their garage.
2. Just because Yamaha has this warranty program...
So what makes you think the genuine Yamaha filter is any better than aftermarket brands?
I realize if there is a warranty claim, having a Yamaha filter may help the claim process. For those of us way past warranty, I want the very best filtration available. I've looked and looked and never...
Another aside - Wix "XP" filters are designed (and happily marketed for a higher price) to last longer than, say, the standard filter number with no suffix. I don't know how much of it is real vs. just hype for the sake of selling a higher priced filter. Wix's approach is to ride along with...
BTW - Wix cross reference actually shows 57040 as direct cross reference. That filter is 2.075" high just like factory filter. But, as I said, I use 51365. It's taller (more filter material) and it fits in space.
Suggest to read the Master Sidewinder Issues and Fixes post at top of this forum. It's details areas of concern and things that need to be addressed for trouble-free riding.
Agree - I spoke with Country Cat on this and they said the updated steel spider clutch for now is only 858, not 998.
I'm running ADAPT on my 998 also and so far from a short winter last year it worked well and no signs of any wear.
I guess I have to disagree. Were it not for cracking problem with Team, they would last and last. I serviced many Team primaries on sleds with 8-10,000 miles on them and the clutch was still great. All still original components. Spiders still nice and snug in towers, all rollers still great...
IMO, pretty tough to pull them into track far enough to really get head flush (or even a bit countersunk) without actually cutting a countersink. Some guys use a vibrating saw (like drywall guys use) to remove quiet pad where stud head will be.
I made a countersink tool (15/16" hole saw with a...
