The clutches are parallel with each other so no. I am pretty sure i found the issue, I have been trying to figure out what the stock clutching that comes on these sleds and i found out what is in my sled is not right. Both springs are not the recommended stock springs and who knows what the...
I understand what you are saying to do, but if I bring my secondary in that far(where the hurricane tool) tells me to, the secondary would have to be able to float out (away from the motor) at a minimum 4mm or more to line up at engagement. I have the clutch guard pulled off and see how it is...
Yes, the first 2 belts I blew were on one day snow was deep and very heavy. (I rode about a 150 miles before this day of powder rides, not heavy snow). Then after i blew the 2 belts i bought the alignment tool and set up my clutches to it. I literally was no able to ride it more than 5 minutes...
I have my clutch cover off, and I understand pretty well how the clutches are supposed to run. You did give a good mental picture though, thank you. My sled is completely stock so what are the stock weights and springs for a stock 18 mtx sidewinder 162. I have blown 3 belts in 200 miles . Just...
I am very mechanically inclined and thank you for all the help. Just want to get this right. Right now my secondary sets in( towards the motor causing a dog leg) the shins you are talking about are the arctic cat shims that sit between the sheaves to set belt deflection correct? I understand...
So right now stock my secondary sitting still, not running I have a dog leg towards the motor. With the stock bolt and washer it will not float out away from the motor at all . But it will float in and out( to where the washer is stock) when engaged. So you think it would be a better idea to...
So i am not having an issue with my deflection, I am not having the inside of my belt wearing either. Where my clutches were set at stock were 61mm. i rode it a few days with no issues until i rode a day where we got a couple of feet of very heavy snow and i blew 2 belts in 25 miles. So I...
I live in north idaho and mainly ride the trees. I dont claim to be a clutching expert but I do know alignment, it's what I do for work. I also know that on my last ride I moved my secondary in .060 like the tool I bought said to. It made my problem worse. So I put it back out to where it was...
So I pulled my clutch cover and checked parralism all good I double checked my off set I am right ar 61mm. It looks like the secondary sets back and pulls the belt in towards the motor ( making a dog leg) just to see I pulled out the c clip( I dont have any washers) on the bearing and took...
My sled doesn't over rev and hit the limiter, it engages at 4000 which seems a little high?
My primary weights have all the holes loaded with rivet weights, the primary spring is black with a yellow and red and silver dot
Its a 18, rollers are all good. Also no oil getting to the belt i routed the oil line so it cannot leak out of the intake, checked the grease there also none getting spread around
Secondary spring set at 3/3, I even tried 1/6 with no change. Pulled cover on primary and checked spring weights rollers bushings, everything is like new.
