This was a common problem on ZX chassis Skidoos after they aged. It generally was caused by burnt brake fluid (not changed frequently enough) clogging the return hole. I have no idea, but just wonder if something similar is occurring. On my 06 Attak, I hardly used the brakes due to engine...
I did pickup a Harbor Freight portable winch and a Pelican style case to carry it in. It is easy to throw in the truck and has clevises and straps in it for various situations. I just run jumper cables from the truck battery (a couple sets usually do it). I have extracted numerous things with...
Yes, tie the sled so that the front bumper is against the rear flap. This is how you get a sled out of the mountains when you have to go up and down steep hills as well as side hill. No need for a rider either, just double up on a different sled than the tow sled if possible (share the load)...
Not sure why pulling with another sled is not an option. I have loaded numerous sleds this way. Just use a 4 point attach like used in the mountains to tow a sled (towed sled is up tight to the tow sled. If you can't drive off, then that can be an issue. Make sure skis go inside the trailer :-)
I rode a Phazer MTX enough to know that it absolutely eats up rough trails. Yah you have to ride it like a dirt bike, but you can ride it like a dirt bike
If he is the type of rider that wants to sit and just lean, he might not like. It gives great feedback, but you have to respond and give it...
Hey Dave (Sno-XR) - I haven't been to the giveaway ride for several years now, but I was at the early ones. Can't make it this year but am going to be there next year. Even if I have to ride a 20 year old sled.
I was remembering your flight that ended badly many years ago, as someone that...
I found that peening the sheave next to the bushing (I do it 3 in spots with a punch) eliminated the bushing working loose on machines that seemed to have this problem. The little bit of material sacrificed each time you replace the bushing is trivial. This might be what cannondale27 meant by...
You can just block off one port. It will not increase the pressure any. It does decrease the total volume but you likely have enough fuel with only the one line.
Had this happen on a number of 2-strokes in the past. I started using sleeve lock (a type of loctite) on the outside of the bushing and also slightly peen a little material of the clutch to keep it in place every time I replace bushings. Haven't had the issue since (15+ years).
Are you the one who rode the Skidoo and then the SRX 600? I remember the ride that Dave hurt his leg. I was lined up to go off the same jump right after Dave crashed when Dave Buckler waved me off. We were getting some big air for back in those days.
Looking up some tech info for older Yamaha sleds (yes I still wrench) I ended up on this site. Been quite a while, so I thought I would say Hi and see if anyone responds. Kinda neat just reflecting back on TY Rides of past years and remembering different ones. So many came to mind, way too...
just get the right ID and width of the bearing and OD of the wheel - I just bought some but have already forgotten the measurements - if nobody posts I will wander out and measure one. be sure there aren't any clearance issues where the shaft and nut/bolt contact the bearing.
Just to be sure -...
