Hi gang!

I'm just wondering what's the warmest weather you've trail ridden your viper? I was riding in +1c weather yesterday with no issues!

I might find out tomorrow if it's not raining, we will see how it goes. We have been pretty fortunate here and have had good snow since mid December! I can be picky now. LOL!

April 3rd 2 years ago we rode home from a trip +8 /+10and sunny for 3 hrs to get home no issues.... machine was fine but I was sweating my #*$&@ off. Rode with a long sleeve shirt most of the way

Not sure how my Viper would do with turbo now so far +4c is ok

Trail conditions have a lot to do with it. Last Wednesday was 37+ degrees. Machines were running a little warm in my opinion. Details here.

Even at speed there didn't seem to be enough air moving through the radiator to keep it at 164-177 degrees. Never got over 200-203, but I'm not comfortable letting the fan run constantly.

Both machines reacted the same way in these conditions. Both machines responded similarly with the scratchers deployed.
Skid mount scratchers were a little more effective than the ski mounts. Both provide adequate cooling & lubrication. The ski mounts are more polite to following riders.

Frozen, the radiator fan does not kick in until about 195 F. This motor sings at 205 and will run great at that temperature all day long. If your new to 4 stroke Yamaha snowmobiles these temperatures will make things pucker compared to 2 stroke engines. However they are within the normal operating range. The Viper has a built in 2 stage overheat protection programmed into the ECU. I'm away home for a few days so I don't have access to my service manual and the operators manual is silent on overheat or I would provide page and temperatures for each stage.

Perhaps someone else has access to the Service Manual and can provide the temperatures and engine response when the Caution and warning levels are achieved.

Rode at 45 f end of last year

52 degrees F, end of March 2016. About 40 miles and the the snow was just too sparse and slushy near the end of the ride. The last 5 miles was snowless getting back to my house from the trail. DuPont slides are the only way to go, worth every penny!!! Engine temp was holding from 196 F to 204 F those last miles and I averaged 35-40 MPH.

With my turbo setup I rarely see below 185. I wouldn't worry about not seeing those temps

mine was running really warm last ride out at -1c trails were pretty much pure ice...scratchers arent on currently and needed them.....ran close to full gauge all day, stopped to talk once and shut it off, once restarted i had temp warning and error code temp read 224f.. until i started moving not sure what happened there, but it was fine the rest of the ride back to the trailer....im sure the 1.77 track doesnt help ran 195-206 all day
