Thanks for the part # on the switch sidewinderpower ;)!
Lot's of testing and threads on the ROV over the years. This is actually my 10th year of making them!! Just like sleds, I have steadily improved the ROV over time with the largest jump in technology being ROVCM.
It may be possible to use it. Although since the Cat magnetic switch is brand new year, I haven't had a chance to see how it's wired yet.
Most magnetic switches are a fairly low current type of switch and then a relay is used to control the electrical load. I also use a relay in the ROV kits...
If you like to mountain ride and sidehill, then the 16 front end is definitely worth it. It's much easier to hold a sidehill and makes the sled feel more nimble when boondocking. If your 15 has a 38" ski stance, you can just replace the upper A arms and spindles to get the 16 geometry in a 38"...
It takes on average about 5 years for a patent to get issued, so it would make sense that the initial art work would be based off a Nytro. Also another possible factor could be that while the Nytro chassis design belongs to Yamaha, the Viper/Sidewinder chassis technically is the property of...
They are just bolted in with 4 Torx screws. The screws were pretty tight and I did have to cut the head off of one of them in order to remove the bracket.
I have the same boots and ended up removing the toe hold brackets on my Cat. The original plan was to modify the brackets for more clearance and reinstall them. However after a season of riding with them out, I haven't had any issues with snow intrusion on to the clutches so I think that I'll...
Jon,
It's not a bad idea to pull the valves while the head is off to check them for straightness, just in case it jumped time also.
The valve stems are small diameter and if they are bent, the valve can "hang open" at higher RPM. When this happens the valve can come in contact with the piston...
Yeah, the front end swap should be no prob! One thing to keep in mind is that for 2017, the M9000 (King Cat) received the D+R chain case while the Sidewinder had the standard chain case.
F0r 2018 both sleds have the D+R chain case. Having a D+R chain case wouldn't be a bad thing though as long...
Pretty sure the bulk head is the same, with the mountain sleds having block off plates like you mentioned. I believe that MTX has 8mm mounting bolts for the upper A arm bushings, while the wider front end sleds that use the non-mountain spindles use 10mm bolts.
You should be able to just use...
The chain case and chain are longer. I believe it's about a 1 1/2" drop and rolled back somewhat to better accommodate the 3" track with larger 8 tooth drivers. There is a noticeable difference when you see a 2017 and 2018 side by side. For proper driver to rail tip clearances, the rails are...
It's important to keep in mind, that the silicone seal is simply the first point of leakage due to excessive oil tank pressure build up. If you seal the tank tighter and the check valve is frozen closed, the pressure in the tank will continue to rise until it reaches the next weakest point which...
Dave,
Not a stupid question at all! The breather vent is actually connected to the inlet side of the intake/turbo. Since it is on the inlet side or "up stream" of the turbo, it is essentially exposed to atmospheric pressure instead of turbo boost pressure.
It's not real common for them to leak but it can happen. Could be just the Schrader valve leaking. To test it for leaks, you can pull the shock, pump up the air pressure, then submerge the shock in a bucket of water and check for air bubbles.
Yes they will switch over, the arms and front shock are the same part numbers. The rear shock part numbers are different, I suspect due to different valving. The length of the rear shock is the same as is the relay rod that mounts below the shock.
Usually the difference is mounting hole positions, although the curve at the front of the rail can change from year to year as well. The most accurate way to check is to pull the skid and set the rails together side by side on a flat surface.
