Just added skis to ditch the crap tuners that came on the sled. Was wondering if anyone is adjusting toe in/out. Sled has no miles yet so figured it would be fine but wanted some input from people who have more experience installing skis.

I would check it to confirm.

I just eyeballed it and then used that measuring app on the new iPhones. It was a 1/2 degree off on right side vs left. But I'll measure and confirm once I get home.

i would check it as we have gotten new sleds that the toe was not checked before delivery and they handled horribly. i always check a new or new to us sled now before we ride it.

Isn’t PDI supposed to be included? That’s what we pay for right? Freight & PDI...

No body at the dealership will ever be as picky about set up as you the new owner. We all want everything to be perfect but some things you just won't know till you drive it. Get your suspension set in set to your weight and align your track. Then check your alignment off the track and set toe about an 1/8" out. I found my toe was incorrect and my handle bars were also off to the right when going straight when my Viper was new. I think some of that is lower Cat quality on assembly line. I suspect most dealerships assemble it and do a quick check of track alignment and fluids and call it good. Unless it's in season they aren't test driven so most times the buyers the first to find out what's out of wack. Also my head light was set so low it was useless. Don't forget to set your handle bars, brake and throttle to what's comfortable for you.

Update, called my dealer. They were very apologetic about my sled not being "set up" correctly. Bringing it back to them when I trailer the sled up north for the winter. They will be fixing ski alignment and track alignment. Could I do the track myself, yes but I'll let them handle it for free if they're doing the skis as well for free. Oh, and for the trouble they threw in a free oil change kit. :jump: Sometimes it pays to b*tch.

yeah, even on my sled which has 0 miles on it seems like my bars are not 100% straight. seems like they are more right than left. But I'll let the dealer work that crap out. They can fix their mistake.

My dealer pinched the wires on the reverse for the Viper (requirement for filling chain case) rendering it useless and the beeper stuck on, oh, and the part was back ordered until summer, and the tracks on the Viper and Winder were WAY out of alignment. Issues with the setup on the Apex back in 06 too (different dealer). I just write it off anymore.... If I could find a dealer that would let me take delivery of a sled in the crate, they would be the only place I ever bought from!!!

Yeah, I just called up my dealer and let them know how I felt about it. Once I get the sled upnorth I'll swing by the dealer I bought it from and they said they'd fix it on the spot and throw in a free oil change kit. I believe in second chances but when you spend almost 10k on a sled, I expect it to be set up when I pick it up!:dunno:

Yup! Imagine spending 25k in one day only to not be set up right lol....... The inside of my air boxes were oiled as I found out yesterday too.......

Yep, bringing sled back to dealer in November before I take it UpNorth for the season. Gonna have to go over the sled with a fine tooth comb before I leave with it. Sad but it is what it is. Had a dealer 5 minutes from the cabin but they lost Yamaha because the brand needs to feel the need to deep throat inventory down all these small shops throats. :(
