A month ago we had a serious miss at higher rpm ms17 tuned sidewinder. Put in a new 3 bar sensor instantly fixed. Bought one from TD and one from Hurricane to have a spare. They are dated 11 of 2020. Sled is exhibiting the same issue again, works okay cool but gradually problem gets worse the...
We chased a weird misfire and it ended up being the gap 3 bar sensor, your miss might be more specific though. We had another sensor to try which made diagnosis super simple though.
I personally put in Bill Mohrs spring, some people have found it to be a little too heavy? I weigh 180 and really like it though. X2 on all of SAB1 recommendations, we opened up a low mile winder chaincase and the tensioner pulley screw had backed out and was rubbing, could have grenaded...
I would highly recommend putting spring purchase money towards a higher rate single spring. I have one in exact same sled and considered it one of my biggest improvements after the TD tune. Whole sled rides better and steers lighter, if you even touch brake in a loose corner it plants skiis for...
Too bad these threads always fall back to made in Japan vs Yamacat, it’s like trolls sneaking into thread. My Attak was less maintenance for the first few years hands down, it was fast and handled okay on fast saddlebag trips on big trails. There is no comparison when it comes to overall chassis...
Sidewinders are really quiet, I assume turbo helps muffle noise. I have never picked up a particular speed drone with stock muffler. My last one had TD super quiet muffler which was okay until silly speeds for trail riding, doesn’t sound like you would be a muffler change candidate anyways.
Highly recommend not going near composite tracks, son put a 1.75” on his nytro and it literally flew to pieces in 500 kms of perfect trails, ie: lots of snow no rocks no spinning on roads. Luckily Royal Distributing up here in Ontario gave full credit towards cam so 1.75” which lasted 10,000 kms...
Shout out to Ben at TD. My son got talking to him and he mentioned there could be moisture in the tube to the map sensor that could cause my sons symptoms. Blew out line and swapped a map sensor from 18 and problem solved. Going to swap sensors again just to be sure in case we need to order a...
I think we will order a water pump to put on shelf. More testing yesterday, double checked gap in new 9EK plugs and after a 45 minute run it still did it. Honestly feels like its getting into rev limiter but its doing it at 7600 to 8000. If you let it cool off even for a few minutes it pulls...
Thanks guys, I checked with my son and he had put plugs in last spring because he thought the issue was starting then. It wasn’t near as obvious then he says. Might try another set. As far as clutch goes nytro sled has a hurricane 1.75” and he beats on it hard, it still works okay but chews up...
Finally got a good rip in with a few buddies down to Shelburne Ontario from our home base of Owen Sound. My sons sidewinder developed a strange issue that has us scratching our heads on the ride though. Its a 17 with TD MS17, superquiet muffler, aftermarket fuel pump and manual pressure...
Yamaha and cat have to update the chassis and introduce a new information interface. The Polaris system is the best but even the new skidoo system is in a different league than what we currently have. Yamaha has this tech in their motorcycles already so whats the problem? The changes required to...
Thanks for input, I wasnt dissing our thunder products rollers they for sure held up better than stock ones did. Aftermarket solution like tapp seems like a big pill to swallow moneywise. Our clutches seem to be really tight so I dont understand how they chew up rollers so much worse than...
Waiting for snow to try our new closed loop tunes on our winders here in midwestern Ontario. Fresh shocks all round and even more power and fuel economy this year so we are chomping at the bit for snow. We have got sleds dialled in except for primary roller life, in particular my sons on max...
Never actually timed but that is window of performance where a tuned winder is screaming in your helmet fun. Will time ours when conditions permit. Our favourite trick with tuned winders is to let snowtrax fav hypersled have the hardpack track across a 2 mile lake and put 290 hp winder in two...
Can’t believe this thread is dead in the water? Open loop turbo cars we have are super crisp all the time regardless of weather. If fuel economy bragging is even close to accurate our 4 to 500 km rips through northern ont and Quebec would come with more peace of mind, gas money doesn’t count...
I have a buddy dumped his 850 doo and is looking for an xtx winder up here in Ontario, can’t find much at all. Would be interested in non current, really clean used or a brand new one. Yamahas plan to eliminate non currents floating around has really worked, he can’t find much at all! Any of you...
Welcome back Steve, love the 50th anniversary winder a lot. Mild revalve the suspension rides amazing and can take a serious beating. We ride whether creek bottoms have opened up or not so snowcross quality shocks come in handy lol. Seriously jealous of your new rides clutch setup. Our biggest...
My son and are both ordering the td self tune setups. He is running max 17 with 18,500 kms compression still perfect even though he rides the bag off it with 1.75” paddle track. Mine has 11,000 kms on max 16 sm. His 17 rubbed a wire through and quit on trail once but neither one of us have had...
The srx article was a pleasant surprise from the boys at skidootrax. They usually display an uncanny skill to subtly spin every article to favour skidoo products. These are the same guys that said because the 17 new model shootout was held at a high altitude the new 850 doo is the hyper sled to...
