Thanks Steiner! I have always used the spring type scratchers, these are my first cable ones. Hope they have enough down pressure as the cable definitely does not have the same downward pressure as the spring type
Just thought I would post pics of my ski scratcher install in case anyone is interested in mounting them this way. I always mount mine on the skis as I find it lubes the hyfax from front to back as well as aid's in cooling. I try to get them as close to front of the suspension as possible, this...
For those who think this sidewinder is going to be a rocket ship, I will believe it when I see it as the current MPI Turboed Vipers are still slower top end than the Apex, lol!! They cannot seem to get good speed out of them!
I removed the studs from a 2007 Apex RTX I bought used a few years back. They didn't take long to remove & the track remained reliable. I have been sledding for about 35 years now & personaly never had any kind of "safety" issues with never running studs. It would be the same as running a car...
My reason for having mine shipped is different than yours, mine was price & time, where as yours is time. Just thought if you had it shipped you wouldn't have to miss out on an awesome deal. Just trying to help
Have it shipped! When I bought my sled this year it would have costed me more to drive (7hr each way)+ hotel & food than it cost to have it shipped, only $430!
Got it going with a jump, ain't the relay. 40 farenheight = same celcius, too cold for the factory 14 series battery, get the bigger 320 cold cranking amp 20 series battery.
People ask me why I drive an Apex instead of a Poo or Cat, I simply say, owned many Polaris's & rebuilt the motor on almost all of them, I am on my third Apex & NEVER had an engine problem or even blown a belt! A buddy of mine ran a 750 FST turbo, whenever he would go in the powder too long the...
My buddy put the Fox in the front (skis) said he wanted to put in the skid also but told me they don't have them for the rear. Do they have them to replace both skid shocks?
I switched sleds with my buddy last weekend, he has a 20012 XTX as well, he liked my steering way better on the trail than his USI skis! I heard nothing but good things about these in the powder but I had no idea how awesome they would be on the trail, even with just regular 90 degree 5" carbides :)
I just compared mine with a friends who has the exact same sled, (no star kit), in the upper portion of the travel mine is a bit softer, but his travels further down as mine is soft until about half the travel then gets hard. We tested them on big stutter bumps as nothing has been groomed around...
I am trying to fine tune the star suspension but I am not able to get the front end low enough, like to have the a-arms parallel to the ground. I have the springs on the ski shocks as loose as they can go as well as the front skid shock spring & I don't want to have to shorten the limiter strap...
All I was saying is that with these skis you can steer in the powder when need be. Leaning & turning the skis in the opposite direction works great in really deep snow in fields & such but cruising 80-90 mph down the lake with under a foot of snow is better & easier if you have skis that will...
