    2020 Release

Would the DOJ even allow Yamaha to purchase Cat? They get pretty touchy about that sort of thing when it comes to the amount of competition in a market. I've seen the DOJ step in when the company I work for has bought another business. They can limit what the company acquires, make the...

2014 nytro heated grips not working where to get replacements

X2 ... Just get the RSI kit. Wire it in parallel for the lowest resistance possible. You will have way more heat that stock. Work great.

2 stroke 3000-5000 miles is it????

If I could get 10,000 miles out of a 2-stroke with only 1 rebuild during that time, I'd be happy with that. I don't keep my sleds longer than 10k miles anyway. By 10k miles (typically 4-5 years for me), I'm bored with the sled and looking for something new. And when I say new - I mean the...

    2020 Release

They have a recall on a fuel pump flange assembly which may crack. The recall notes that it only impacts about 250 sleds.

2 stroke 3000-5000 miles is it????

I have a cumulative 24,000 miles on my 4-stroke Yamahas since the 2006 model year ... 3 different sleds. I am one of the most anal people when it comes to maintenance and ensuring that my sled is always in perfect running order. During that time I have broken 4 skids (one of the broke twice)...

2 stroke 3000-5000 miles is it????

Failures mid-season that have you missing riding time aren't always engine related guys. I've had plenty of other stuff on my Yamaha's break that had me missing riding time. Most notably, the rear skid until the Viper came along. Yes, I have a few 2-stroke buddies that have had an engine...

    Polaris Brake Lever

I had to trim my parking brake just a bit. It was super hard to engage it. But with a bit of massaging (using some sandpaper) I got it to engage nicely.

    Polaris Brake Lever

I did this mod last year. Much better brake lever. Yes - it is a 2 finger lever. https://ty4stroke.com/threads/polaris-brake-lever.149341/

Best belt for my sled ?

Kinda depends on how hard you are with the throttle. The 8DN is hard and will last a long time. But I’ve found they don’t really like big high speed boosted pulls. Then tend to slip and I’ve blown a few doing so. But for performance the softer belts are better. And I’ve been getting 3000-4000...

Best belt for my sled ?

I found similar results. 8DN good upgrade for NA motor. When I went turbo, I also got better performance going back to the 8JP length, but I have been using the Ultimax XS825 with very good results.

    2020 Release

Isn't that what Blade really tried to do? Niche market for the elite offering a hi-end sled at a hi-end price? That didn't work out so well for them. Yamaha has traditionally been the premium brand sled (of the big 4), has had a premium price and the sled backed up that premium price. But...

    2020 Release

UGH! If we end up with a cat chassis and a cat 2-stroke engine with Yamaha stickers - what's the point of buying the Yamaha? Just because of the color? I'd love to see a new Yamaha 2-stroke in a competitive chassis of their own. But I think we all know that's extremely unlikely to happen...

    New Camso hurricane 175 track

I just installed a 1.75 on my Viper RTX. I don’t see why the SRX would be any different.

What article? I just finished the Nov issue and I didn’t see anything about a Nytro.

Yamaha Poll: What Skis are you running on your Sidewinder?

I'm running the RZ skis. But I had these left over when I used them on my FX Nytro. So I just got new mounts for them when I got my Viper. If I were to buy new C&A skis, I could have easily chosen the XPT or XCS.

Closed trails Keweenaw Peninsula for 2019 season

That's certainly what it looks like. I can only guess that the locals will find an off-trial route to get from Hancock to where the trail is open south of Houghton. And at some point, everyone else will also find that path.

    Idler bearings

I agree on the 100% grease packing. I work for an electric motor manufacturer and we have run hundreds of test on the proper grease fill for a bearing. Too much grease and you don't leave enough room for the grease to get out of the way of the rolling elements. The seals can push out, or the...

    Too late

Yep - I broke the front arm on my RTX too. I also think about the fact that I never broke the skid on my Nytro too. But then I have to remind myself of the poor handling, crappy shock valving, icing tunnel, failing donuts, crappy handwarmers, etc. etc. .... All of the things that I griped...
