2011 Apex XTX Vs SE Floats

When equipped with an Ohlins PDS shocks, nothing can touch the Mono RA for all around ability.

Nytro race to trail sled project

This sled is great... it works surprisingly well just cruising along, a bit stiff, but that is to be expected. However, when taken by the scruff, it simply rocks. Stable, no ski lift, turns when requested.

    Excell exhaust cracked,$800 for what?

What gauge is the material? Material grade? Full weld penetration? Back purged or flux used? Anyone have some close up pics, especially inside the tube.

    Excell exhaust cracked,$800 for what?

Well, let's try to make this constructive - dissect that bugger, more pictures, please. Parts just don't break, people break parts in three different ways... It was either designed wrong (or reached it's design life), manufactured wrong, or used wrong.

    Apex/Attak front shocks...what to buy

I can get or build any Ohlins shock one could ever want. The real question... is it in the budget? The best is not inexpensive.

Scored a 128" Mono Shock II skid. Since the stock skid is already set back, I will eventually build this sled into a 136". I'm also finally going to build an Ohlins Big 50mm Shock for the skid. Piston, shaft, and reservoir all grow in size on this damper. Here's one I mocked up a few years back.

Nytro race to trail sled project

Short answer, yes. From what I can see, the Hindle is not a one piece... but rather uses several slip fits to absorb the rotation, vibration, and allow expansion and contraction. IME, using slip fits for these types of joints is an adequate and economical solution... that's not a dig, either...

Nytro race to trail sled project

Time to bring these exhaust flex couplers back into action. I built them back in 2005 for my Rage... along with a header, which met some studs a few too many times, so it won't be used here. These HD couplers have a slightly larger diameter and much smoother internal flow... plus they get rid of...

    Pull start apex

I have found a flat nylon strap works better. Something such as a small ratchet strap, which also has many other uses on the trail. It can be wound/wrapped cleanly over itself 2 or 3 times. This gives a better pull with no slip and much less of a chance of tangling. ;)!

    Front shocks

What's your budget? I have an older barely used set of Fox Zero X, low speed and rebound, w/ dual springs that could be made into something for you. I can also build a set Ohlins for you that will be hard to beat...

Apex exhaust flanges sold on Ebay-any luck?

    Yes, slip fit, no sealant.

Apex exhaust flanges sold on Ebay-any luck?

Perhaps it is time to begin production on these?... built em back in 2005 along with a header. Obviously they were designed to eliminate the donut... though I did build copper donuts for a brief period back in 09 or 10... these could be a better solution. As one can see, these have been well tested.

    power steering

To do this with new Yamaha parts will be relatively expensive... roughly $2500 - $3000 is a good ball park. The parts, if used, could likely be had for half that, maybe less, if you can find them. FWIW, the power steering motor assembly is shared with the Grizzly ATV. The Grizzly PS ECU is a...

It was above freezing today, so the i dragged the sled out for a strip down, hot water wash, and inspection.

    Sealed Speedo Bearing?

Don't forget to add the deflector cap. All sleds had this little update by about 2010, but several had it in 2008. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... =deflector

Ohlins for sure. Might also install a Mono shock skid with a new shock I'm developing for it.

Nytro race to trail sled project

Nothing significant at this point. Low speed around the back yard showed no push, the sled just immediately turns.
