I'm trying to repack the bearing. I have the track loose, the three bolts out of the back side of the tunnel but I don't seem to be able to get the caliper and rotor to slide off the shaft. Is there a trick I'm missing? I tried to sand off the burrs on the shaft and it looks ok but can't get it...
It seems like this chassis has issues with track alignment. I got it close and ran it, thinking I was the only one having problems with it, once you've been on this site long enough to see it's a common issue. Good luck!
You can get the Cat skis very cheap. I have them and love them! I'll add Snotrackers this year. I think they cost more than the skis but everyone I know that has them, swears by them. Mine isn't the XTX but I'd try losing a little pressure on the rear shock and see if that'll take some weight...
If you are serious about buying it you should go to the FX Nytro section and start reading. There is a ton of good info specifically about them. Word to the wise. They tried to make the Nytro light so they put a small (28liter) fuel tank on them!. The only reason I mentioned the longer track...
The Nytro is a good option for a 4s ditchbanger, however they are also known to have a weak subframe. It's the frame that the A-arms attach to and it's easily damaged. You can beef it up with Grizz Gussets and should be good to go. I'd suggest at least 136" at least.
Is it possible to access the driveshaft bearing behind the caliper without splitting the caliper? I'd like to repack mine and would rather not have to tear the caliper apart.
Thanks Kevin.
Do you have any pics of the rivnuts that you installed? I've heard them referenced before and if like to see how they work.
My feelings on studs- if you don't put them in, you can't put one through your heat exchanger... call me paranoid!
I tried a Sandale on mine, but I took it off because I found it loud. But after ordering adjustable primary weights, it may just find it's way back on it...
I did a mutli-day group ride up north and there was a 850 Renegade with us. I didn't ride it, so I can't comment on the power/speed, but I was amazed at how much oil he used! We did 750km over a few days, and he went through a whole 4l jug of injector oil! I thought that was the whole thing...
I pulled the cover off the primary and checked the weights. 57's. Looks like I'll be changing them out. Not sure if I should go to the 60's or something aftermarket? I might be able to talk my dealer into giving the 60's to me. It was supposed to be an update.
Fixed. I just pulled the actuator off and reassembled closely following directions and it works. I don't know what I did wrong, and feel kinda stupid... thanks for the help guys. I hope it has solved my problem! Now on to the clutching and bearing inspection.
Ok. Tomorrow I'll pull the actuator off and start over. If i have to crack the chaincase, I will. But I really don' want to! You can't do it without losing the oil and chaincase fluid, can you?
