I've been having trouble with my reverse for the last couple of rides. The short story, I ended up buying a new one for $320 Canadian and threw it on tonight. Not working! I've been through the actuator threads and they seem to be focused on the gear being ground. Not my issue. You can feel the thing trying to shift if you hold your hand on it, and I think I followed the proper mounting instructions, but it's not shifting into gear. Any suggestions?

You started off with gear in forward? You turned the extension counter clockwise and the notch was down and about in middle for the pawl?

I had to replace mine earlier this winter for $209 plus tax. Went on easy like Cannondale said.

I've had it on and off in the past, and had no issues.

Ok. Tomorrow I'll pull the actuator off and start over. If i have to crack the chaincase, I will. But I really don' want to! You can't do it without losing the oil and chaincase fluid, can you?

Sure just get whole thing to side with hoses attached. Chaincase oil will be lost but not engine oil.

Pay special attention to the jackshaft, Friend of mine had his chain case all redone under warranty last year and then had problems with no reverse last month, checked the actuator and that was all good. New jackshaft developed a burr that prevented gear from sliding on it. He sanded it lightly to finish off the season before going back to dealer.

Fixed. I just pulled the actuator off and reassembled closely following directions and it works. I don't know what I did wrong, and feel kinda stupid... thanks for the help guys. I hope it has solved my problem! Now on to the clutching and bearing inspection.
