My coolant vent line ran down towards the belly pan, but never made it that far. My fuel vent line sat right under the exhaust manifold and melted (thank god for that find). I ended up buying replacement hose from Kimpex (P/N 907312) and rerouting how the lines went - basically up and over the...
Ironically, I went out this fall and purchased an oil change kit from Arctic Cat for the 998/1049 engines since it was less expensive (plus there aren't any Yamaha dealerships around me that actually work on snowmobiles). I can't imagine how hard it would be for Yamaha to argue that I wasn't...
The Cobra 1.6 lugs fold over like butter. Wouldn’t be surprised if your track was acting like a much shorter lug than something taller and stiffer, like a 1.75” track, would do. Food for thought
I know that people will say you can put on "X" number of slides for the price of DuPonts, but I've never had to replace a set of them. EVER. I've been extremely happy with them and have never had an issue on icy trails or roads. Last year, we were on our morning return to the main hotel as part...
Maine has posted their COVID-19 quarantine requirements on their website (now that basically every state is on another state's "Hot List"). If you're traveling to Maine, you're required to quarantine for 14 days. HOWEVER, if you take a PCR test (that's the nose swab) within 72 hours before your...
The Yamaha design is so well engineered that when something goes wrong, it goes REALLY wrong. The Arctic Cat/Yamaha sleds are much simpler and it’s nice being able to go to the Arctic Cat dealership for parts at a fraction of what Yamaha charges. Can’t complain like you did and not tell us what...
I don't think anyone could disagree with any of this - you'll be in for fantastic riding if you stick to the general Moosehead Lake area, west to Millinocket, and anything north of there. In addition to riding out of Limestone basically every other weekend during the winter, my group [normally]...
We ride mainly in Maine (and scoot over into New Brunswick during the Tourist weekend). I highly recommend staying at the Bunker Inn in Limestone as one of your stops. Tim and Sandy treat us beyond amazing and the Inn has it's own kitchen and grill if you decide to cook out. If you're in the...
I can't directly compare the two, but I can smash together some feedback of my previous two sleds (a Phazer GT, which is the same front end as the Nytro, and a SR Viper XTX SE, which is the same powertrain). Overall, I'm MUCH happier with the power of the SideWinder (XTX LE with the QS3s all...
I can't speak for the folks up in Canada, but Yamaha cannot void a warranty just because you used a product that was not theirs. Like any manufacturer, Yamaha would have to legitimately prove that the aftermarket product was the cause of the damage. For example, your warranty would still be...
I might be blind, but where did you route it to? I see the plumbing leave the top of the oil tank and run down to the can before running along side the belt.
Another thought - any ideas to protect that tubing on the clutch side in the event you blow a belt (hey, it happens from time to time)?
The belly pan skid plate is bolted to the plastics in a bunch of different areas - I was actually considering installing rivnuts to make the removal of that piece so much easier as well.
I put a belly pan protector on my 'Winder - so a removable panel doesn't do me too much good. I'll agree that I'm not a fan of that Hauck kit - I was looking at the EZ Oil Drain Valve last night and it seems so much more straightforward than having a line bouncing around and hitting everything...
I couldn’t find anything on the BOP website. I saw it on the Ulmer website, but no matter how hard I try, I get no replys on phone calls or e-mails.
I found a drain valve (http://www.stahlbus.com/products/en/oil-drain-valve/index.php) that using a spring versus a ball valve. I have the ball...
Now that we’ve been staying at a new hotel in Maine with access to a heated warehouse on the former Loring Air Force Base, I’ve been looking at ways to make seasonal maintenance easier. One of the items that crossed my mind is the 2,500 mile oil change (since we hit this amount at least twice...
