Ohh boy going out west maybe

You'r in for a treat this year. The snow is deep and plentiful. Rode Grand Lake Co Dec 28th-29th and we dug with 159 and 162 tracks all day long. Rabbit Ears pass is great, record snow fall in the Northern Parts of Colorado. We have been riding since Nov 15th around here.

I need help with an oil problem

oil and smoke I did not mean to make it sound like I look like a old school bus going down the trail. The first 2,000 miles no smoke, no oil usage. ;)! Last 1,000 adding oil every day and visable smoke if you pay attention. :(

    Belt life

3,000 miles, 2 belts, most my riding in the steep and deep. If your doing less then that check all clutch and belts adjustments, paying close attention to your belt alinement and deflection, those are the #1 & 2 causes of heat and short belt life.

    Upgrade Stock Skis to what?

which Skis Simmons make little alum piece called a snow fins that bolts on to the skis. If you go with Simmons get the fins. They kick snow on to your hyfax and on the heat exchangers. I'm getting over 2400 miles on my hyfax as a rule and no over heating issues even when snow is marginal.

I need help with an oil problem

Oil Usage I'm using about 1 qt per 200-300 miles. :( Out of warrenty of course. Has anyone not fixed their sled and just kept riding. :? It does not bother me to add a qt of oil every 200+ miles and unless the rings break later on what harm could it do? I hate to spend money when my sled is...

    Anybody try ski scratchers?

Mount them on ski's. You get better lubrication on hyfax on front of skid and much better cooling. I'm running Simmons skis with snow fins, which are similar to snow scratchers in function. I run very cool in minimum snow conditions and got 2400 miles on last set on hyfax and could have gone...

    Clutch help again!

I would start with 8BU10, 2 steel rivets and 14.5 rollers. I am assuming that Revy is 4,000 feet ish. Try your sled out when you get there, should hit about 10,400 out of the hole and hold between 10,4 and 10,200 all the way to say 50mph. If your rpm is too low lighten up the rivets. I run 2...

    SOMETHING EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ!!!!

It seems like my friends and I have been riding forever some days. We have been at the scene of many wreaks, most of them, not fatal, but bad enough to ruin the next month for them. Where we do most of our riding there is not a lot of alcohol use or smoking of dope before riding. Maybe 10% at...

Anybody else having problems with hyfax wear and the 05 skid

I made 2,400 with my first pair of hyfax. I run snow deflectors on my ski's and left the front skid wheels on. If you are wearing out in front of your scratchers, Run them down all the time, even if you do not think you need them it will help or switch to ski scratchers and put your wheels back...

    belt deflection

The above thread on belt deflection is great. Sometimes when I install a new belt it tends to ride a little too high, with more drag then it should have. So I remove some or all the washers for about first 500 miles or until I notice the belt starting to rode a little low. Then I keep adding...

    rx1 problem?

Pull the plugs should see antifreeze on plugs. If not have dealer check compression. Both are quick and cheap checks.

    Ice scratchers ?

You said 'Hartman ski scratchers'. I have never heard of ski scratchers only skid mount scratchers. Where can I find them. I love my simmons fins but they don't work on Ice.

    rx1 problem?

Yamaha says to change coolant every year and to use distilled water (*or boiled water). You can take to the bank that you and your dealer used tap water to fill you system. That could explain the black specks. I do not know why they reconmend changing antifreeze every year though. Does anyone...

    05 Clutch Different Than 04?

Hi SoCORx1, By now I'm sure you have adjusted your track, but I thought I would toss in a couple of suggestions. Do not tighten back wheel bolt so tight you cannot get it loose with tools you carry on sled to adjust on trail if nec. You may think you got it right under normal riding conditions...

    Ice scratchers ?

Should work on any ski with dual carbides, see photo posted by Suisse Sledder, the bolt is the inside carbide rear bolt that you see the fin attached to. The reason that the Simmons fin works so well is because it mounts so far forward, you get a snow spray every where on the skid and running...
