Anybody use icescratchers on their mountain sleds ? Looks to me like the stock heat exchangers are minimal for turbos if your arn't in fresh powder.

I've run Holz scratchers for two years. I've never had a problem with engine cooling after initial breakin. I use them to save my hyfax (I have the Holz rear) and they usually do. Just last week we went on a trail ride (cause there's no feaking snow to go off trail). It was cold, hard and icy, and for the first time I smelled some hot plastic. Sure enough I took 30% wear off the forward portion of my hyfax. The scratchers seem to lube behind, but if the snow won't adhere to the track, the front heats up. The weather finally wamed up a little and they ran fine. Fortunatley most of our snow is "usually" deep and at 32 F.

Meat if you do get a set either the ones that attach to your rails or the running boards make sure you mount them as far forward as you can. I run the ones on the rail and I got longer bolts and tied them in to the where the limiter straps bolts to the rail and just removed the first set of guide wheels so it could hook over there. You want the snow throwing up as for forward as you can.Plus a rear heat exchanger helps alot too.

those only install on Simons skis? And is there a website where I can find these?Suisse Sledder said:If you are running Simmons skis, I installed a set of these and they kick a lot of snow back into the track.

I run the simmons cooling fins and they are outstanding for cooling engine and lube'n the hyfax, they kick up a cloud of snow under your sled with just a little snow on the trail.
Got a buddy running the Ice sratchers, he made 470 miles before replacing hyfax, it wore out where the wheels were removed to mount stratchers. I made 2400 before changeing hyfax. One down side with the simmons fins is they do not work on ice you need a little snow.

Do you think they will work on the new Yamaha '05 skis? Looks like it is just bolted to the edge of the ski.

Should work on any ski with dual carbides, see photo posted by Suisse Sledder, the bolt is the inside carbide rear bolt that you see the fin attached to. The reason that the Simmons fin works so well is because it mounts so far forward, you get a snow spray every where on the skid and running board heat exchangers. Has any one seen scratchers mounted on single carbide skis and did it work?

I took my Hartman Ski Scratchers off my SXR with C&A Pro skis and tried putting them on my Vector Mtn. Because the bolt on the new 05 Mtn skis is under the flange on the ski I am having trouble finding a way to attatch them. They worked awesome on the standard skis, it throws a great spray into the front of the tunnel and underside of the the belly pan. Even on ice, sprays chips and keeps you cool and lubed..........YaMon

Haven't had any issues with the temp light on the Vector Mtn, have toasted the hyfax though. Might have to put some scratchers on the rails if that will solve it. Had a blast on the lake but it cost me my hyfax, my kid said he could smell them. I guess 175kmh will do that with a 159 and low snow. Was sure fun though, although the 900's didn't seem too impressed when we did some drags. Those 130lb riders musta thought thet could beat the old fat guy, LOL.

have been running Holz ice scratchers on my 03 mtn since the first season. prior to installing them I had overheating troubles. Havent had any problems since when I remember to put them down. That little dummy light will remind you when you forget. Just went riding with our club a couple weekends ago. I led 25 sleds all weekend and had several new M7s and a couple Rmks overheating but my Mtn did not. I was the only one running scratchers. Nuf said!!!!

You said 'Hartman ski scratchers'. I have never heard of ski scratchers only skid mount scratchers. Where can I find them. I love my simmons fins but they don't work on Ice.
