I had a very bad experience with a Kevlar belted aftermarket belt and will not be running anything other than the 8DN on my boosted Viper. Your mileage may vary.
That's a good problem to have! Add some weight, each gram should drop the rpm about 200 rpm. Also if you are set 6-1 on the secondary try 3-3, will drop rpm a bit and give a little less mid range and more top.
As I said I burned the belt, that shouldn't cut a groove in the clutch. The bulk of the black marks came from the 8DN running across the sharp edges of the groove on the return trip
Correct, the fan is turned on by heat which is usually caused by low air flow AKA stopped or going slow. My Powerstroke while pulling above 10k altitude up steep passes will have the fan turn on for about 10 seconds on rare occasion I know this as a powerstroke electric fan is LOUD. Under normal...
Somebody you know who came out west to ride for a while thought his clutch had a problem because after he got stuck and it sat while he was digging it would freeze lock and not take off. Passed this off to him on the reverse and no more locks. Probably just a powder snow thing if it has not...
You know that is what we do as we did that when you were out here. When it is not as warm as it was when you were here the steep angle of the tunnel forces powder snow in the heat exchanger and causes a "lock" on the track where you have to pin it to clear or simply put in reverse to pop it out.
When a Viper gets really stuck the angle of the tunnel forces the powder snow down in the heat exchanger where it freezes pretty quickly. Its a known practice to mountain guys to put in reverse and spin the track to get the clog out before going forward and that works most of the time. But...
Waiting to see what the belt manufacture is going to do before I name them but the 8DN is all that will be going on my turbo sleds. Got stuck and burned the belt like countless other times with the 8DN and this happened. Yes I abused the belt but no more than I do the 8DN. Please note this belt...
