I had my first belt go today. 2200 miles on it. It went at wide open throttle 110 mph, boom!!

With my apex i could get atleast 4000 miles on a belt. What is everyone else getting for mileage on a belt?

What belt were you using? All stock I had 1700 last year on the 8jp and it was still fine. Only 600 miles on my turbo and 8dn so I can't really help there.

What did you have to do for the 8dn to fit the viper?

If you already have the osp belt adjuster it makes it really easy, just put the 8dn on and reset the adjuster. If you do not have the adjuster you can add two washers to each of the secondary adjusting bolts on the back of the secondary.

8JP belts never worked for me. Switched to the 8DN and it's better, but now running the 40C4340 Gates Carbon belt and just went thru a Gates belt...but the abuse I put on it, the Gates lasts the most.

did you have belt failures with the 8jp?

I ride the 8dn normaly and i tried the c-12.....

Realy NO belt slip as mention in other post by nos-pro (exact -200rpm)thanks. ;-).

10 oookm and i hAd break 3, 8dn. No one has explode like a 1100T by the way...

For me 3000km is the max i can get out of it!! I am pretty hard on it!

I had 2 8jp belts explode like this on my turbo, 200 miles on each belt. Tried an 8dn for the rest of the season and at 800 miles it just started to pull the cords out. That's running at 7 pounds with a lot of hard launches so I'm pleased with that considering I can get an 8dn brand new for $50. On a side note I ran the 8jp belt the first year on a stock sled with a clutch kit and never had an issue, but they don't seem to like the big hp.

I had a very bad experience with a Kevlar belted aftermarket belt and will not be running anything other than the 8DN on my boosted Viper. Your mileage may vary.

If your not slipping with the 8dn, than why are you running a few hundred rpm's more than the gate's, all belts slip, you either grip more (gate's) or slip more (8dn).

1,600 miles on 8JP so far with not issues. Belt still looks good but my sled is stock engine performance.

Well the first year I was blowing 8jp every 100 to 150 miles would leave the shack with 3 spares and barely make it back. It proved to be Hauck's clutching. After Ulmer re-tuned and machined my clutches with his kit I got 1300 miles out of the last 8jp before switching to the 8dn for a drag race. I had over 2000 miles on that belt running mostly 13#'s of boost and not 1 failure. I am now running the Gates Kevlar in the 15 and probably same on the 14 monster if it ever gets done.

To run the 8dn you have to add shims to the 3 bolts on the back of the secondary or spend $90 for the OSP adjuster.
