It will not idle cold by itself. When hot it idles around 1300. I was pretty thorough with the carbs so I don't think its that.
I'm beginning to believe the valve clearance needs to be checked. I looked in the service manual and adjusting it looks pretty involved.
Here is what I tried this past weekend;
Plugs - nice colour and even across all plugs
Coil resistance - primary and seconday both within spec
Carb - starter plungers cleaned (missed these the first time around)
Still need to keep the throttle slightly open during warm-up to keep it...
Cameron - seems to have the power it always had so I kind of doubt its compression.
Groomer - yes the coil sits on top of the plug. Doesn't seem to be an issue when warm though. Not sure what I can test without just replacing parts.
Gone Blue - I blew the jets out with compressed air and...
Thanks guys.
Groomer - its only been doing it this season
2morestrokes
- difficulting building rpm just when cold/luke warm, not hot
- I put a fresh set of plugs in at the beginning of the year
- I blew out all the passages with compressed air. There was no gum in the carbs at all...
I have a 2007 Nytro (Vector) owned since new that I have difficultly during a cold start.
It turns over and starts fine initally and for the first 15 seconds or so. After this I need to hold the throttle open slightly as I bring down the choke for it to stay running. Even after the temp...
Stain, I wish I had your knowledge and I would try myself also. What is the minimum amount of equipment you need to do this yourself? What is the cost to get set-up?
I modified the spring adjustment collar like I mentioned in another post. Basically it adds 2 positions below the 0 setting...
From my prespective of only groomed trails at moderate speed it is just too stiff. I'm going to try a revalve to see if this helps. I'm also going to modify the preload collar to take more preload off the spring assuming at the 0 setting there is a 1/4 inch or more preload already on the spring...
It looks like the holes through the bottom mount of the rear arm where the revolver shaft goes through is wearing. It has quite abit of play in it. Anyone else experience this?
I talked Denis last spring and he said it was normal. Ya, likely normal in the sense that you will experience it, not...
I agree with Stain and 06 Vector that the suspension is too stiff. I'm 200 lbs and mostly ride 'groomed trails'. If I would have known about this softer spring I would bought it instead. We need to work on a first year test rider discount.
Drift Rider - I have a set on my 07 Nytro. I very good investment. They take the hard edge off the floats. Much better ride. I run them with the arms just above parallel.
Jeff sent me replacements after I first saw the problem. They are the same soft material. I haven't used them. The gas line is holding up well. His explaination was that they are getting wrecked when taking the pins in and out. I think its poor material choice.
I'm also extremely dissapointed. This WAS the sled I thought I was going to buy next year. But;
- gas tank is too small
- same crappy skis
- no storage
- rear suspension ?? (based on other CK's I've riden no thanks)
- entry level gauges
I agree with Grimm. When is Yamaha going to start...
RTX, I have close to 14,000k on the sled.
Grimm, the ZX2 I have is on my Nytro. This was on my Venture with the Pro comfort.
If anyone knows about having to take the inside chain case off or not I would appreciate it.
I have an 05 RS Venture and this past weekend my drive axle snapped in 2 pieces just outside the outer drive cog colar on the gear side. My dealer said he had never seen one break before. He contacted Yamaha and they said that they have not had any issues with this axle. Yamaha attributed it to...
I've put almost 1000k on since I installed the gas line hose fix and they are holding up just fine. These are reenforced rubber not like the soft rubber originals. Jeff provided me with replacements but I'm not going to use them now.
Jeff, your comments on uncoupling for better ride are the opposite to what the manual says.
In the manual its says that #3 provides most coupling and plushy ride where as #5 is for light coupling and the suspension is less smooth.
Please clarify.
I was looking at my revolver yesterday and noticed some debris inside the rectangular slot. Took the bolts off and one of the rubber bumpers was in pieces. These are #4 (ML-015) on the parts list. Took off the other side and one of those was almost in pieces. I used some gas line hose with...
Found my problem. I had the front shaft mounted in the factory mounting hole and not the new lower one - Doh. No wonder it didn't work properly with the geometry all screwed up. I knew I had to do this and assumed I did. Don't know what I was thinking.
I put on 225km yesterday. What a...
