It looks like the holes through the bottom mount of the rear arm where the revolver shaft goes through is wearing. It has quite abit of play in it. Anyone else experience this?
I talked Denis last spring and he said it was normal. Ya, likely normal in the sense that you will experience it, not normal though in that it is causing me concern. I see that at some point soon I will need to put bushings in there.
I put about 5500km on the skid last year. Other than the rubber bumpers it held up pretty well. I don't see any wear on the bottom shock bushings highlighted in the lastest service bulletin.
My only other compliant would be that the ride is too stiff. If you had to choose between shock revalve and softer springs what would you choose?
thanks for the help.

Would you say the ride is stiff or the skid doesn't rebound as fast when going over chop? I thought it was plenty soft but over choppy bumps it gets the rear end kicking just slightly. Its not as good as my edge in the area but it did everything so much better. I friggen love this skid.

Definitly needs slower rebound. It seems to be over sprung and underdampened. I called AD BOIVIN last week about changing from the double to tripple rate springs and they said a revalve would be better. They then told me call Stadium Performance in Quebec. I called and asked for Luke who told me they have never revalved one of these shocks! He did seem very confidant they could cure the problem. I have also called around to see if anyone else has revalved these and Pioneer has but did not get any feedback from the customer as of yet.
I know I could do this myself but am looking for someone who might have some feedback on some changes

From my prespective of only groomed trails at moderate speed it is just too stiff. I'm going to try a revalve to see if this helps. I'm also going to modify the preload collar to take more preload off the spring assuming at the 0 setting there is a 1/4 inch or more preload already on the spring.

Another thing that I don't like is that there is no ride-in (sag) like on other suspensions. With the back end up so high it throws your riding balance off but even so it corners flatter than anything else I've ever riden.

I do like this suspension I guess I'm just looking for perfection. If I can get a more compliant ride I think it will be pretty close.

Let us know on the re-valve, I think that will make this suspension perfect, I have a feeling AD was making them just a titch stiff to help the guys out there that are testing thier statement of "the skid is almost indestructable"

I love mine as is but if I ever need to service the shocks I would soften it up just a titch.

I received my parts at 10.00:am to-day. Total cost $78.00

Pretty good service

62crusr - How do you get this (2nd) service bulletin?
Thank you in advance.

zx2

I recieved the service bulletin but haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you mean they are charging for the parts if they are worn out??

That is not right. This is a design flaw, you should not have had to pay for it. The ZX2 is supposed to be maintenance free, not replace $78 worth of parts every year. For us in the US this will turn out to be $100 bucks by the time it is shipped to us.

I sent an e-mail to AD Boivin expressing my consern that the service bulletins are not available on thiker web site. This is potentially a dangerous situation. What if the shaft failed at 60 mph????

Here is thier reply

Dear Sir,

Major OEM web site are not used for TSB. We are taking our responsibility by sending a personal TSB to each owner.

Regards,

Denis Boivin

When I read your post I had to laugh... (not that I necessarily disagree with you though)

With my stock RTX skid I spent about $800 in worn parts in a little over 8000 miles and most of the repairs were covered under warranty. The front bushings are totally gone every ~500-1000 miles, the rails crack, the pivot arms crack, the rest of the bushings and bearings need replacing every 5000 miles, etc. I spent way more than $78 in gasoline for my tow vehicle to take my sled back and forth to the dealer too.

$78 per 9000 miles doesn't sound too bad to me, especially when I consider in that same 9000 miles I will spend well over $3000 in gasoline alone.

When considering the cost the sport yes it is not a huge deal especially if this skid holds up. If that is all I have to pay for this skid to stay together I would be thrilled.

I am bitter about the company's service though and it gets the best of me sometimes!

I am getting a set or two ordered and moving on.

But was your equipment advertised as "Maintenance Free" as was the ZX2;

From their site...........

How do we maintain the ZX2?

The ZX2 is maintenance free! No need to lubricate parts and joints, the composite have the unique ability to lubricate itself!

They should supply replacement parts at NO COST as far as I'm concerned.
