Backcountry rider looking for help/tips, 2012 MTX 153, 130lb rider

You probably should experiment riding it with the skid shocks set much closer to factory settings of 50 psi front and 150 psi rear and adjust them in 5 psi increments. 85 psi in the front skid shock is very high for your lower weight. The narrower and (as important) forward-shifted front...

Who's sticking with the Nytro this year?

With a half dozen mods, my 11 nytro mtx finally handles really well in the mountains and trees and is great fun to ride. I will be riding it for a couple more years, then after Yami's new engine arrives I'll jump to the newest viper mtx.

    100lbs ice in the tunnel

The newest Viper mtx video showing the weigh-off in the mountains with an xm and a pro demonstrates the advantage of a powder coated tunnel and rails. It had a 100 lbs less snow and ice than the pro in the particular conditions of that day.

New hyfax ruined after 10 miles with ice scratchers

'I was told to get a anti-stab wheel kit for mine and mount them right at the trouble spot that you are discribing instead of at the tip of of the rails where they should be mounted.' I had the exact same problem with my hyfaxes when riding trails in/out of the mountains and installed a...

    100lbs ice in the tunnel

TLRAK and Malmlof, let us know how your paints work. Spraying silicone is pretty easy but once-a-year painting would be even easier. Preventing ice buildup usually equalizes the weights of my Nytro with my brothers doo XM. ;)!

    100lbs ice in the tunnel

AKvector, I now use silicone spray before each ride on the underside of the tunnel and on the skid of my 164 '11 MTX which works great for reducing ice buildup for me here in AK. You have to spray it before each ride however. Does not require a lot. Like the others said regularly knocking any...

Skinz A-Arms...what are you guys getting for bushing life?

I notice one of my skinz a-arms has become very sloppy with the plastic bushings. Might be due to some hard landings/stops since it is just one arm. I have maybe 700 miles on them. Replacing them all now with oilites before the season begins.

Building a mountainsled of a RTX

Very nice work with the dremel and cutting wheel on your shocks. Nice alternative to waiting 5 weeks and paying $100 plus freight to have the lock ring grooves machined by someone else.

    2013 Turbo Nytro ND Build

Are you satisfied with the hydro-dip coating? Has it proven durable and where did you have it done? Is it worth the expense?

Would you buy a new, 2-stroke Yamaha if they offered one?

If the mountain sled release by Yamaha next winter does not prove to be a great re-design and improvement (including more HP) over the Nytro mtx then I will consider a two stroke. Enjoyed riding the 162" Pro RMK last winter with Burandt in the steep dense trees where the least weight is a real...

2011 Nytro MTX rear suspsension question

New nytros on the dealer floor have a little slack in the limiter straps. As nitris said, raise your pressure in 5 psi increments to check performance. You do want the front skid shock to bottom out on a few occasions when it is properly adjusted. If pumped up so high as to never bottom out...

2011 Nytro MTX rear suspsension question

I've increased my center shock to 85 psi to virtually eliminate its bottoming and lighten the steering which works well for me at 205 lbs geared up. Rear is at 170 psi on my '11 MTX. For your riding weight increase it. You might also want to have your Fox float 2's rebuilt because I found...

Dropping Weight on the front. Lets do it!

I like the idea of using a Lightweight battery AND moving it back under the seat on an undertunnel exhaust. It drops 10 lbs and also moves another 3.5 lbs off the front end onto the back end, improving the overall balance. Putting that mod on my list.

Dropping Weight on the front. Lets do it!

Well that makes around 25 lbs. Nice. What are the more expensive steps possible after this?

    Chris Brown rides nytro

Drew, have your ridden with Chris here in Alaska? He says he has ridden all around up here.

    Nytro is it worth it?

Soldi, with all those key mods, including the skinz front end, you will have a great handling, mountain powder machine. Even though it may not be as light, continuously developing your riding skills will provide the additional 'performance' needed to go and do the most technical terrain you...

    Anyone still riding?

Hey Ricky, Some evening clearing happening again. Enough for dry riding.

    Anyone still riding?

Rick, Thanks for posting the videos, I enjoy watching them. Does the turbo on your sled make your skis lift so much. It appears your skis are always just barely touching even while cruising trees, and usually completely off the ground when climbing? It just stands out to me since mine...

    Anyone still riding?

My Nytro was riding great with the newly installed Skinz front end until my teenage son drove his uncle's Summit over an 8 foot ledge and landed right on top of the seat. Goodbye tunnel! Lucky I was not sitting on my sled and lucky for him that I did not have anything close by to swat him with...

    Anyone still riding?

You lucky guys were the last ones up there this spring. Access is closed now. Still a couple of places yet, if my sled gets fixed in time!
