Another yawn of a product launch from Yamaha- with some ugly colors to boot. Their colors and graphics department is awful. Dating back to my waverunners of the '80s, Yamaha always sold either bland looking machines or ones with mismatched color schemes.
Keeping my purebred Apex XTX, and...
Thanks for the pics. I'm 6'0" and would definitely like to keep the stock pad, or I may put the sport handlebar bag on. Right now my arms are totally straight while standing. Maybe 2" is not enough. The mountain Apex Riser looks a lot higher.
Anyone know how much higher it is?
:yam:
Looking to add a couple inches to the stock rise on my '11. I know lake effect is popular.
Does anyone know what the max rise is before changing cables? I've heard 2". Also, how much more rise is on the
old Apex Mountain riser compared to the '11 and up models. I would prefer the OEM...

You made the right choice. The 1100 turbo I ride with has been through 4 belts this season. The belt shield is louvered and acts as a cheese grater when the belt gets slack. Plus the throttle response of the Apex- instantaneous- is in another universe compared with the Cat. The...
Agreed. I rode them all before I decided to go with the XTX. The guys I ride with that have SE's and Standards prefer the XTX as well. There is definitely overlap between the ride quality and handling between the models. It's all in the set-up and skis.
However, there are advantages...
The 2012's have different graphics, skiis, and xtx's have slightly relocated front bogey wheels- in addition to wheels being 1.5mm lower. Slider wear is not great on either (especially xtx's). Get the tuner skiis and dupont sliders for any year with Yammie marginal snow wheels and it will be...
Thanks for the feedback. It's funny how some dealers and even Yamaha didn't know if there were changes or not. Having superimposed the michrofiche from both years, the only functional difference appears to be the location of the front wheels.
The key part difference being a part called...
Hello all, new to the board.
Got back into sledding this year in Old Forge and picked up a leftover '11 XTX for a great price. I know the skis are different between it and the '12, but I'll probably try the new Tuner's anyway. Now on to the hyfax- Looking at the Yamaha parts catalog...
