Haven't tried it on a Viper. But two guys I ride with tried them on 800 Doo's last year. They don't work in the cold ..... at all. Doesn't matter if you cycle them or not. So if you ride where the temp might go to -20C or less, stay with a non lithium. Spoke with the Earth X rep at the sno show...
Scrapped the Yamapads today. Not enough coverage for knees when 'tank' riding .... but OK for standing. Muffins fit over and past the crease and are well positioned for knees when outside the tank (and perfect for standing).
Agree with Cannondale. Put on the Racewerx easy adjust coupler and tried all positions. I actually prefer 3rd setting. Read all the posts on carbides and since I ride aggressive trail style, went with 7.5" and 7.5" inside and outside. Works great and is not at all heavy on the steering. No push.
I'm out of Town for few days, but will post some pics next week on this thread. Just installed 3 Frogzskins on the exhaust side to help cool the turbo intake. 3 weeks ago took a short ride from Bracebridge Ontario to Menno South Dakota (2000k's each way) to have Allen Ulmer install his clutching...
I'm 225. riding an RTX LE Snocross model. Did exactly what Cannondale and Pstn outlined above in order to get the rear end to work properly. It was way too stiff with the factory settings. Also backed off the front rear preload as far as it would go. Now it has a "compliant" but firm, responsive...
Agreed!
I see the 2016's have the same mounting position for the fuse box. Unbelievable stupidity by Yamaha. Barnofparts has an aftermarket fix for this, but Yamaha should have done it for this year or redesigned the relay so it wouldn't freeze in cold weather.
Just got back from Ulmers...
Lithium. NO WAY. We had two guys install the EarthX batteries and neither one of them would work in cold (-25C) weather. Useless. Spoke with EarthX rep at Toronto Sno Show and she wouldn't admit to problem, but finally agreed to replace the batteries. Both guys said no thanks. Back to basics. I...
Well you and I are a lot alike. I rode 800 Skidoo's for 10 years until last year and then popped on a Viper as I liked the ergos and fit for me on the sled. Really stable ride and standing position was perfect. Took it out for a test ride first with the 2015 skii's and they made the difference...
Installed one last winter. Thought it might turn by itself as little effort is required to adjust, but it didn't. Works great and very, very easy (like 2 seconds) to adjust.
It was -32C in Ville Marie with an added wind chill. The sled started no problem and then quit on the trail about 50 k's out just past La Tulippe. Towed to La Tulippe Shell, warmed up for 15 minutes, and away it went and ran good for next 700 k's. But ..... when and where will it happen again?
This is a huge and very widespread problem. Don't let your dealer or Yamaha tell you its the "first" one. It happens all the time and requires a fix (along with the starter issue). My dealer has had a half dozen failures reported and I have just sent Yamaha Canada a request for a fix. They of...
I'm 108, well 64. And hate being cold. Riding Doos the last 10 years and some of them are cold too unless you add a bunch of stuff. I installed a set of Yamaha hand guards and then put a set of Yamaha wind guards over them (I think they are on the Nytro accessories site not the Viper site). They...
Same issue up here with starter and ring gear being stripped. I haven't had the problem yet but many buds have required a tow. Dealer advised not to short start, but rather after the fuel pump cycles up, to hod the key open and not release it immediately. Not certain why this "holding" was...
Well, let me rain on the parade. I think it depends where and how you ride to some extent. If it's cold (regularly -30C) then beware. There are lots of guys up here having problems with starters and relays. The relays are freezing when it's really cold. So the machine will turn over (direct...
We put the Yamaha mid height on. BUT then laid the stock over it on the outside to maintain the look of the stock and it does look a lot better that way IMO. Stock screws are long enough to do this (even tho they are those lousy torx things). We also have windshield bag with the holders under...
