Wondering if the viper problems have been resolved on the 2015 models? was looking at a left over 14 but after reading about starting issues, starting failing and bogging out, well i don't want to bad mouth them but I read and seen enough that I want to pass on the 2014.
Any problems with the 2015's??
2016 release coming soon...

Biggest annoyance I had early on was the stock carbides, but that's hardly a true "issue". Aside from that it's just getting the setup dialled in for my riding style (slowly sorting it out). Best sled I have owned, no significant issues to report on my end so far (1900kms and I ride her hard).

NO!!!, there is still a major issue with them! I usually don't post but I just have to warn and complain of a short term issue with it.
I just got back from a 550 mile trip in the UP with my new RTX DX in -20 to +19 degs. Reading all the negative press about these sleds had me scared to turn the key. So with anxiety, I prepared my trip by taking a tool box full of tools, even took an extension cord, hair dryer and hand warmer packs in case of a relay froze. I'm coming off an Attak with 15,000 miles. It did have its share of chassis related issues but the motor never left me stranded. Anyways, I was hoping for the same reliability with this new Viper.
So I have to for-warn anyone thinking of purchasing a new Viper-
I didn't have any issues on my trip, but it has been over 24hrs now since I got back and I can't get this stupid grin off my face!!

That is a problem you should see your face after driving a boosted 252 HP viper!

I have a 14 LTX SE. On my second season with no issues. A set of curve skis up front and good carbides. A mid height windshield. Really happy with the handling and the ride. I would buy another one. Picking a good dealer with a good service staff is important!! Enjoy!!

Well, let me rain on the parade. I think it depends where and how you ride to some extent. If it's cold (regularly -30C) then beware. There are lots of guys up here having problems with starters and relays. The relays are freezing when it's really cold. So the machine will turn over (direct connect to batt) but will not fire as relays are frozen. If you are near a plug and have a heater, a few minutes of heat on the relays will get you going. But if you're not, good luck taking them out and warming them at that temperature! And the access is lousy (read poor design). And the relays can freeze at that temp on the trail while you are travelling. Now if you ride in remote areas, you could have a long walk or worse. The relay problem needs a cure from Yamaha. I'm sure you've also heard about the starter problem as well. Again poor design and a cure required. If you ride in the wilderness on regular occasions in cold weather, do not ride alone and beware.
if anyone is having stalling problems when coming down to idle or starting off, I posted the below in another post on stalling. hope it helps.
my 2014 ltx had the hard starting last year but was reflashed about 6 weeks ago and was stalling since which was a bummer. Every time I slowed down I had to keep throttle up close to engagement which was huge pain in the #*$&@ in a 740 mile 3 day ride in quebec. it would have stalled every time I brought it down to idle (i.e. road crossings, in town, down steep hills, when I locked brakes....) hazardous to say the least. I brought it back and they just fixed it cause went out yesterday and didn't stall at all wooohoooo !! The issue with mine was simply adjusting the throttle cable. I didn't see any codes but they said it had stored it was throwing a P0000 i believe which they didn't know what it was cause yamaha doesnt recognize that one but the yami rep was there and said he saw that in the same cat sleds and it was the throttle cutting out. my dealer had not seen it in the yamahas yet. I see other posts on stall so I am gonna copy/paste this to those so hope people don't mind !

Sled is great. As far as cold starting, I was out at the hunters cabin last week. -40 in the morning. Cycled the ignition 3 times where I tuned the key on till the pump shut off and did it 2 more times before I turned the key to start. Fired right up. Did it the next morning, think it was colder.

I changed the fuse box to the top of my belt guard. Easy access. I never had to heat my relays.

Hey Mitch, was the harness long enough to do your mod? Not certain that I want to put it on belt guard tho. Any pictures?

And this is definitely NOT a new thing. Fired the 1981 Enticer up and it popped and died when I let off.....raise hood unhook TORS and off we go!

I have had one issue with my 15 LTX SE. The Pistons in brake calliper seized and the brake stuck on. Thankfully I was able to get back to my truck without a tow. The whole brake system was replaced under warranty, calliper, disk, brake line, master cylinder, drive axle bearing.
Not sure if the has been a common problem with these sleds, I have not come across the complaint on here. While it was in the shop they also replaced a fox float shock that was leaking oil. Not a Yamaha problem, defect In the shock I guess. Other than that the sled has run and performed great.
I have also ditched the tuner skis, tried everything to make those things turn but had no luck. I went with the C@A trx very happy with them, sled turn and tracks like it should.
