The 162x3 is actually lighter than the 162x2.6. Yes it won't have the spring snow traction but the 3" in powder is a monster.
The 2.6 is a great all around track that hooks up very well, although I'm gonna give the 3.0 a go next season.
Day two,
Team 40 in 4th place into galena. Having some shock issues but given the conditions so is everyone else. They leave for nome around 3:30 am.
Team 3 is a few hours behind but chugging along just fine. Sleds are doing good but trail is beat up badly. Should leave around 8 am for nome...
Day 1 in the books.
Team 40 into McGrath in 7th place. Now on 14 hr mandatory layover. Says the worst trail they have ever seen, overheating was an issue. Very happy with the sleds and performance they are getting.
Team 3 blew a rear shock eyelit and was forced to take a 8 hr layover only 140...
DuPont hyfax are a must, extra skis in McGrath, and thank god for a radiator! As long as we keep moving we don't have cooling issues, all the other teams are installing extra radiators and fans but we will be good to go.
One more night of last minute preparations and the teams hit the trail...
Muffler design is different, power, turbo setup ect can all lead to why yours sounds different. If your running a 270 kit I would at least start with a 45 degree helix and a cat Snopro green spring. This will load the motor more and get your track moving.
I've noticed it as well, especially the last few weekends in the deep snow in Valdez. By the end of the day they were icebergs. no real fix other than a small mallet and break it up and push it out of boot and into engine bay. Lots of ice buildup as well underneath the radiator, lots!
If your secondary is stock it's the rev limiter. You have to increase spring pressure and angle. The stock helix is a 37 and has a spring a bravo could max out. It can't upshift fast enough to load the clutches so the primary is winging up and and revving before you gauge could ever read that fast.
With another year comes another Iron Dog race. We at Anchorage Yamaha are excited to have two teams racing for us with the help and support of Yamaha Motor Corp. With their help and guidance and our experience on the longest race in America we feel we have a great chance this year. Last year we...
I wouldn't look past the mcx kit. They have built more turbos than anyone out there and have a simple, clean, easy to install system with the most proven fuel system to date. There are a bunch out there to chose from, but with the troubles Mpi has had delivering and keeping dates I would highly...
