Tore mine out of an '06 Vector GT this season. Blame it on not getting the nut tight on the shock, after powder coating the suspension, since the cable was intact with the nut still on it. Unfortunately it did rip up the cheap rubber sheath while it was bouncing around under there. I rebuilt...
3033 miles on a 2006 Vector GT, most of it on less than ideal Western New York Snow. Only failure ... upper/outer chain case bearing (right behind the brake rotor). When Yamaha says replace the collar and seal when replacing the bearing they mean it. Gear lube on a hot brake rotor is a smell...
Bending inward is exactly what happens after a big hit. I know the exact moment and the exact spot when mine bent. It was from a massive hit that completely bottomed the skid. The trip west on the trail was smooth as silk the trip east was a disaster. For some reason a stream changed course...
If you like the feel of the stock Vector GT seat but want the more upright ride of the Nytro, slap an Apex GT seat on it. Foam is the same consistency, seating surface is the same texture and the silver strip is close enough that most Non-Yamaha experts may not notice the difference. Oh, you...
I'm officially going to burst the bubble here. I have an '06 Vector GT which has the factory braces. They did not solve the bending issue, just pushed the bend point further forward. I now have a nasty wrinkle just behind the mounting plate for the upper rear idler axle. Shows up really well...
Gents and Ladies, go to Max Sled and take a look at the totally redesigned racer that Yamaha fielded at the last outing. If history repeats itself this is probably the new Yamaha, at least visually. Remember the last racer that became the Viper?

Believe it or not myself and the rest of our normal crew managed to get just shy of 900 miles last season. We missed all of the good snow in December because you can not ride until about December 21st in NY. We all got real good at water skipping. God help you if you missed. After every ride...
I'm with ya. Western NY was terrable last winter, rode six times and did three years worth of damage. This year look worse and may be the first winter with no riding.
Maybe we should all buy mountain sleds and move to Denver!

I bought a black Nytro cover for my Vector GT when I did the seat conversion. It is definately not the same as the vector cover! The seat facing surface is already sized to fit the taller seat ... and the handlebar opening is shaped different for the different bar mount. Despite the...
I have an '06 Vector GT and put less than 1000 miles on it last season. Unlike Yamahas of the past, the black paint wore through instantly. I could not find any tunnel protectors made to fit these running boards. ARE THERE ANY AFTERMARKET MANUFACTURERS OUT THERE READING THIS? I made my own...
I just completed putting an Apex GT seat on my Vector GT. I tried to do the same thing your did and also gave up. The Apex seat harness is also inside of the seat, but it didn't bother trying to pull it out after the other one didn't move. I'd suggest you route a new harness under the seat...
As to those absolutely excellent screws that hold the side panels on, there is a solution. If there is a junkyard in your area that will let you pick your own parts, look for a second generation (1995 - 1999) Mitsubishi Eclipse or Eagle Talon. These cars use an identically sized screw (same...
Our club is one of those that posts the sales tax deferal sheets in the local gas stations. The clubs have to do this and handle the paperwork with the state to get the tax money back. It is a good source of income for us, but you're right ... it won't lower the operating cost for individuals...
I know the ones that most of you are talking about, which fits in front of both suspension arms. I agree that this one would only protect against abrasion. The one I'm questioning appears to mount under the lower arm and provides the same type of protection for the A-arm as a skid plate does...
On our second ride of the season, the dude on the Doo hit something and bent a lower control arm. Fortunately it tipped the sled and did no further damage, but the object could just as easily have wedged between the tubes of the arm. That would have done a lot of damage and thrown the rider...
Don't know if this will help you or make your decision harder, but ...
Our usual riding group experimented with various skis with the last round of sleds we had. These were all trailing arm design machines, but the condition we were trying to cure was darting. We tried the Flex Skis you are...
OK, I looked up the "Fenders" for over the shocks, Yamaha part numbers 8EP-7819L-00-00 and 8EP-7819M-00-00. They are smoked plastic and look good mounted. I'm all for anything that looks good and makes the ride more enjoyable. But, I have a question, "Will they work with GYT-R shocks?" Looks...
