I didn' care for the Gold Finger much. I found the lever action to be twitchy. The lever is not large enough to get smooth action from it. I like the Lefty's Sidehiller. Large lever, easier to work when in the technical stuff.
I would stay away from the push on cap style of switch. Like the ones ski-doo uses. They have a tendency of falling off on there own when they get wet or a little worn. I like the clip style a lot better. They will not come undone unlees you really pull on them . Pro-design lanyard kill switch...
I am running the Simmons Fins. They make quite a difference for a pretty basic idea. This year we have had good snow but the past to have been bad. I have never seen my temp light come on. I also know what I have for a sled and do make every attemp to get extra snow into my track when ridding...
I have an Apen MTN and live in NH. Yamaha have a calabration program for Mtn sleds to get them set for what ever elavation you want. Yamaha covers the parts, you pay for insulation or do it your self.
As far as handleing goes, that is a matter of oppinion. It is not going to be a ditch...
I have a right side complete setup. It is red. The left side is not too pretty. Not a piece on it straight enough to make a pretzle. If interested PM me.
I am speeking with first hand expierence. I broke the a-arm mount on the bulk head. I welded a piece back in. I used 1/2 pate to replace the piece that was missing. It was a decent project to get everything lined up. It can be done, but you want a shop with a good rep. Cast aluminum is a pain...
Not postive on the size of these wheels but if you know someone with an 04 Viper have them measure the wheels on the top of the front suspension arm for the rear suspenion. I notice them the last time I was messing around with someones sled, but forgot to messure them. If I see the sled again I...
In general I have found it easier to side hill with out the sway bar out. It lets the skis work independent of each other makes the sled a lot more predictable. If you set your front suspenion on the soft side, you won't be fighting it when you are trying to pull the sled level.
The only...
I have always had great luck with those battery's in Gold Wings that run a lot of accesories. No expierence with them in cold weather. They are a quality product
If you are doing a lot of side hilling, take out your sway bar so that the skis will work indepently.
Expierment a lot with where you place your feet on the running boards.
You might also want to back off your springs on you front shaocks, again to let the skis work better.
Being...
I just did this to my apex. Broke the pivot right off and lost the piece. I was able to fab up a piece and weld it bak together. It is not the easiest thing to do but it was still easier than replacing the bulk head. Good Luck.
When i did mine i didn't cut any windows in my track. I just twisted the hyfax a little sideways and pulled it through. WD-40 is a must with the length of these hyfaxes. Cheap slide hammer and some vise grips are woth there wieght if gold in they decide to be stubborn. Some will come off...
Running Yamaha graphite hyfaxes with Simmons cooling fins. 1500 miles very little wear. Mainly have been trail ridding, not quite enough to get snow to get off trail yet. Most Yamaha sleds that i have delt with seem to eat hyfaxs to about the 5/8 to 3/4 worn mark pretty quick. Then they last...

Do you have the bark buster front end on your sled? If so how do you like it?
I have looked at that one. I t is very different looking that the stock. I like the specs on it, but would like some rel world feed back on it.
I just replace my stock sliders after 1,000 miles of mainly trail ridding. Only one of them really needed to be replaced becuase it melted after a 5 mile ride across a lake with no snow. For what ever reason the other one didn't melt. It looked to be half worn. Even the sleds with 1" tracks...
