I have yet to go into Munising to see for myself but the rumor mill says they got 12 to 14" of snow yesterday...we got bupkus here 16 mi south but that's not all that unusual with lake effect...might be O.K. for the next one after all
I happened to talk to my buddy this morning and asked how the riding was on Sat...he said it was just fine from the Holiday station on all the way to Grand Marais...I would expect it will be a little iffy around town etc by end of next week since forecast has warmer than normal temps and...
I just looked at local forecast and it's not looking good...every day is lows in the teens and highs right around freezing...no mention of any significant stuff at all...FWIW
They are supposed to have decent snow out that way...johnboy told me he rode from his place in Curtis to Grand Marais and it was O.K...I also had a Doo bud who went that way from here last Sat...I'll have to shoot him a call and see how it was...
As difficult as it is, have faith! I remember 1 yr we had literally nothing and the Fun Ride was scheduled for the 8th...starting late on the 6th we got 14" of snow and "saved the day" as it were...we're still 2 weeks out so don't give up yet...
I seriously HATE being bearer of bad news and I know how much many of you like this place, but Sonia Ott just posted on FB that Camel Riders WILL NOT be re-opening due to the COVID shutdown, etc. A Damn shame. One of the better places in the entire U.P.
I hate being a pessimist but you guys have got a real "challenge" ahead...the ground is nowhere close to frozen and at least here in the central we got exactly ZERO snow...with 1 week to go I'm snow dancing for you guys...but I'm old and that dance is FUGLY...
Saved by the proverbial bell...we've got at least 5 to 6" here 20 mi south of town...heavy system snow...should be good to go...I was just out blowing a path around the Suburban (and for the furry kids) and there's more in areas where drifted
I bought a dozen 8oz firm plastic bottles from Amazon and keep 2 of those in my tunnel bag (the med. one)...no issues last year...the bottles were relatively cheap, i.e. <$1 ea.
The Klim Arctic works well but it's really designed more for the MX style helmets....there used to be some called the "SuperClava" but I don't know if they are still in business....I think maybe Dennis Kirk handled them back in the day....extra thick fleece bottom with normal head sock....might...
I bought a pair of Yamaha badged gauntlets made by FXR earlier this season...completely large enough for my hands (3XL) but they are extremely stiff....as in after a single ride my arthritic fingers were so sore I haven't used the damn things at all since...and they weren't cheap....
Any "quick...
